After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

It's always a learning curve Bushie, but isn't it fun experimenting to get it all right? .... ![]()
I made a Christmas pudding in the microwave a long time ago and it was my first microwave oven.
It turned into a nuclear volcano, went as hard as a rock which wasn't noticeable until it was on the table ready to be sliced, visitors sitting there waiting ... and the worst part was, I had transferred it onto a glass plate. Just as I went to cut the magnificent looking thing, there was a very loud crack and the glass plate exploded, so the first problem was compounded by the second ... no can cut, and now full of glass.
However, the brandied custard I made to go with it was quite splendid and the guests were charmingly sympathetic and ate all their custard minus the pudding with loud but exaggerated compliments to the "chef".
The eggplant that imploded another time wasn't too good either, and that one actually almost disappeared completely.
Then there were the sausages in the pressure cooker where one tried to escape through the top vent, now that was a sight to behold I can tell you. It was positively filthy!
Adventures and fun in cooking, who could live without it?

Oh gawd Freddie, that must have been a sight to behold, a frozen cheesecake cooking in the oven!
My ever helpful darling hubby once offered to wash the potatoes. Would have worked except he peeled them very nicely, then scrubbed them with a nailbrush in hot soapy water, then put them on to cook, the effect was amazing to say the least, wild hairy bubbles all over the kitchen, and the cleanest potatoes you've ever seen, inedible, but very sparklingly clean .... ![]()

I love pressure cooking though Freddie, it's just that when I started out, nobody insisted that the ratio of water to food should be thought about, in fact, actually putting water in the cooker would have worked a treat ... ![]()
These days though, the pressure cooker is my best friend!
Don't get me started about scones though, that was something I really couldn't do, they always turned out like they had come from a galaxy far far away (and should have stayed there too).

They are great for cooking cheaper cuts of meat Tas, but it's best to follow the usage instructions otherwise you could end up needing to paint the kitchen ceiling. ![]()

PS ... dunno about the kitchen ceiling Freddie, but what I can tell you is that the wall directly in the firing line in front of the oven, AND the rangehood were in need of er, um, relining!
Night night xx
