Telstra says cable customers have no need to reconnect to NBN but they will be supplying a new modem to be compatible to the new tech. I am guessing cable just shifts over to the NBN fibre optics without changing lines at the house from a node.
Apparently cable is virtually as good as the new NBN lines therefore no need to change that part.
that sounds good Kopes.. the cable we have for foxtel and broadband is called HFC (hybrid fibre coaxial) and it sounds like they can use that for NBN with some sort of a splitter box I wonder what happens to your land-line phone though
the whole thing is totally confusing.. at our place we have a Telstra pit out in the street , but we also have another Telstra pit on our property where the HFC runs down the side of the house. this house was once owned by the council and they had a big switchboard here when we bought it

An nbnโข Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection is used in circumstances where the existing โpay TVโ or cable network can be used to make the final part of the nbnโข access network connection. In this circumstance an HFC line will be run from the nearest available fibre node, to your premises.
HFC connections require an nbnโข access network device to be installed at the point where the line enters your home. This device requires power to operate, and can be installed by an approved nbnโข installer or service provider.
