i heard a discussion overnight about just how difficult it will be to rebuild this, the timbers required are from oak trees of a certain size. there arnt enough oak trees in the world big enough to remake the beams.
the original beams were from trees hundreds of years old at that time.
clever buggas are we, we have used up all the trees that would be big enough to recreate the timbers used in notre dame.
it was said you would require a 42 square kilometer forest of trees of an age of over 300 hundred years old.
so the rebuild will stumble at the first hurdle.

There'll always be an element of suspicion.

They'll have to use something else, then, won't they!

Notre Dame 'miracle' as cathedral's rooftop bees and hives survive fire

Fortunately, the hives are on the sacristy roof, which is considerably lower than the cathedral, it is way bellow the level of the windows, which all survived, and the sacristy is sticking out away from the main body of the cathedral. And the stone walls around the roof area and the would give more protection against the heat. The fire destroyed the wooden roof structure, and in 3 places the vaulted ceiling collapsed, but once the burning wood fell down the firemen were dousing it with water. That is why so much inside is also OK.
buttresses
This picture shows bit more how far the bees were from the cathedral and how much higher the roof is
You can see where the fire made most of the damage - all the yellow
