Subway removes ham and bacon from nearly 200 stores and offers halal meat only after 'strong demand' from Muslims
I wonder if this is going to happen here?

And the problem is?
The thing is you probably don't even know you are eating halal meat. All Australian processesoors by law have to have procedures in place for processing their meat for halal consumption.
So sticker or not, I am sure much of the meat already makes it onto your subway even though it doesn't have the dreaded sticker.
how can you not know if you're eating
bacon or ham ?

They can - they just choose not to - it's called democracy.

They do have the choice. They can go to one of the 90% of Subway stores that offer the standard menu.

Their shops their choice I guess. Does seem kind of silly to turn away customers though just for the sake of selling bacon or not. Even in the areas with a higher muslim population there must be some non muslims and passersby that will now go elsewhere.
Or are muslims not allowed to purchase any meat from a shop that also sells bacon or ham?
I guess they have to weigh up is the bacon going to turn away more customers or the lack of it.

No democracy is freedom for any retail outlet to choose what they wish to sell and freedom for any buyer to choose whether or not to buy the goods on offer.
Some (vegetarian) restaurants choose to sell any meat.
Some shops choose not to sell cigarettes.
Are they being undemocratic?

I think you'd probably find that, in the areas where these outlets operate, the number of extra customers they would gain through selling only halal food would outnumber those who might be turned away.
