Re: New Years Resolutions- do you always make them?

A friends young son lost his eye from an exploding home brew bottle. Someone had left some in an eski outside after a party. The little boy took the lid off the next morning to see what was in there and it exploded into his eye.

Many years ago now and he is fine but doesn't have sight in that eye.

Thats really shocking Joono.

We kids weren't allowed near the laundry when 'the brew was up'...

People as perfect as I am don't need to make resolutions as we don't need to change anything.

Have you ever tried to make your own beer? Or ginger beer?

Delicious....Woman Happy

I made ginger beer years ago.
Explosive would be the word to describe it. The kids had to go outside to take the cap off, and each time lost about one third of the contents over the neighbour's fence. I have a hankering to make it again actually.

The thing is, when I made the resolution, I imagined it would work- instead I seemed to attract more of them to deal with!

There was 1 person in particular at work, she would seek me out- phone and email me to vent over and over..I like to think Im a good listener too, but this was completely stressful and negative. She seemed to have a problem with everyone in the company- except me and the boss. She would find fault with anything- seriously. eg- moaning about someones voice, their hairstyle, or how long it took them to return her calls..if there was really a problem I would offer a solution, but I couldnt have cared less about anything else.

I caught sight of myself having a 'conversation' with her and realised how tense I was..and decided that the next time she started venting, I would just say, calmly, 'well, what do you want to do about it?' it totally stopped her in her tracks.I kept it up though..I thought if I could bring her attention to the fact that she could control how she reacted to other people, she might change..I also stopped being so available to her..

Took time, but it seemed to work..she probably found someone else to vent to, but if the boss ever found out how much of her time on his clock she spent behaving like that...yikes.

I guess the thing is, people need to vent- some of them do it to relieve stress, some to make sense of something, but some vent instead of dealing- I swerve those people now..Woman Happy
