New dog not eating. Suggestions?

Our new 'pup' (10 months) arrived a week ago and is settling in well. She seems happy and has stopped pining for her old family although every now and then there is a bit of wimpering if she can't see where we are.

She is drinking water but she isn't eating. The only thing we have managed to get into her is small bits of BBQ chicken skin (vets idea). That is in 7 days!

We called the breeder and apparently her companion (another female her age) also stopped eating but was back on her food by day 4.

Is there anything I can do?

Thats a good age for a shep, hope the injections are helping him. Huskies are great dog as well 🙂

Yeah I thought it was his back, but he had a full mobility test recently and the vet was satisfied he wasnt in any pain in his back, but felt lotsa arthritis in all of his shoulders and think he drags his legs a bit because of nerve dysfunction.  Yeah I think the injections are helping him, he's had three, will have the forth next week and see how it goes for a few months.  It's good to see him able to go for decent walks again 🙂

Having three shepherds must be a handful to walk?  I know the husky and shepherd is a handful...

No huskies here, but 3 german sheps who enjoy their daily walk/s

My German shepherd will be 14 on the 4th December. And the husky is 3 and a half.  The old fella has started some arthritis injections cos he struggles on longer walks now :(...

I love german shepherds. Like Bassets, you don't see many around any more. But it's great to see a big healthy shepherd.

A neighbours has an old one that is just beautiful. Every time anyone walks passed he barks ferociously and scares the bejeezers out of you. But he's all bark because when you call his name he is suddenly all tail and licks.

And while you are at it, can you tell me how to introduce said puppy to pet rabbit?

HItler's last dog was a gsd named Blondi, rumour has it that both she and her pups were killed on his instruction not long before he suicided 😞 for the dogs

Yep, he gave his dog Blondi a capsule of cyanide (or some kind of poison) to test it on her just before he shot himself, I believe from what I remember. 😞

I'd go with the Shepherd before the husky any day 🙂  Not because of nature or anything like that, huskies are just like (or worse than) naughty teenagers lol Trouble makers and roustabouts, if they cant dig under they will endevour to climb over every fence you put in front of em. they are stealth machines and too intelligent for their own goods hehe.  I call mine wolfie (as a nick name) Totally different creature to a shepherd.  They're good buddies though.

I thnk it's really important to have a couple of dogs, it's fair especially if you have to work and stuff most days and there is an amount of time the dog will be left in the backyard alone... jmo of course

Re: New dog not eating. Suggestions?

Are they Cartrophen injections? I have used them for my eldest boy with great success. He is only 9 but has HD and has been badly abused in the past which resulted in a cpl of probs. Chiro can sometimes help as well. I cannot have my 2 males together, so they are walked separately female is fine with both of them. They all walk quite well on lead ( no pulling ) which makes for a pleasant walk.

When I showed my girl there were people there with Sibe Huskies, gorgeous dogs but a bit on the stubborn side apparently

Yep I have an opinion on that, of course Woman LOL

I know how to introduce cats to cats and dogs to cats but dogs to rabbits? I'll give it go but don't blame me if it all goes pear shaped.

You are doing well to keep them apart using a glass door so they can see each other. Second step would be to keep them apart in different rooms but only separated by a door with some kind of gap or place bunny in a playpen with an escape hidey box or something so bunny doesn't feel cornered i.e so they can smell each others scent. When they can do that without appearing nervous or excited then start feeding them both on either side of the door (or babies gate or playpen) so they associate each other with good times (eating, not each other but eating their own food). Then you can introduce supervised visits in the same room. As for a time span? Maybe a few weeks?

I hope it helps.
