Nine Defends Sonia Kruger's 'Freedom of Speech'

Sonia Kruger has defended the controversial comments she made about Muslim immigration, with the Nine Network backing her "freedom of speech" in expressing the opinion.

The Today Extra host on Monday called for the Australian borders to be closed to Muslim migrants, and says she's entitled to discuss these issues.

"Following the atrocities of last week in Nice where 10 children lost their lives, as a mother, I believe it's vital in a democratic society to be able to discuss these issues without automatically being labelled racist," she posted on Twitter.

Her comments came during a discussion relating to an article written by News Corp columnist Andrew Bolt, who said there was a link between France's terror attacks with the country's intake of Muslim migrants.

While Kruger said she had a lot of "peace-loving" Muslim friends she said there are also fanatics.

"Personally I would like to see it stopped now for Australia because I would like to feel safe as all of our citizens do when they go out to celebrate Australia Day and I'd like to see freedom of speech."

I have a new-found respect for Sonia Kruger.

Instead of automatically crying out Moslems again, (France has "stated" that they have found no ISIS connection)

( NO I’m not a Muslim)

It's pretty hard for the DGSE to fess up and say 'sorry' we missed this one. Of course the French can find no ISIS connection; any connection found makes the DGSE look rather inept.

The DGSE is a state Service under the direct authority of the executive power and operates within a very strict legal and deontological framework. The DGSE’s activities, defined by the Political Authorities, are exclusively tasked to protect French interests. Its activities particularly contribute to protecting French citizens anywhere in the world. For this particular mission, the DGSE closely works with all the national security services. Its scope of action mainly takes place outside.

Sonia Kruger hasn't really thought this through in enough depth. She implies that stopping Muslim immigration would make her feel more safe, but is she not equally fearful of those who already 'walk amongst us'

Does she wonder when speaking to her '
lovely Muslim friends' whether they are secretly harbouring a desire to kill her? Does she break out in a cold sweat if the checkout chick in her local supermarket wears a name badge reading Fatima, or the man standing behind her in the queue looks vaguely Middle Eastern?

And if she does, then  what does she think we should do about all these potential terrorists  lurking incognito in our towns and suburbs?  Here are some suggestions:

Perhaps the government could pass a law banning  Muslims from working in any job rthat brings them into direct contact with the public: doctors, dentists, nurses,  taxi drivers etc.

Then there is the problem of actually knowing who is or isn't a Muslim; remember  Pauline Hanson was astonished to learn that Sam Dastyari was a Muslim. Should they all have to be on a register perhaps - something like the sex offenders register.

Should there be restrictions on where they can live - that would make it easier to contain any potential problems. We could designate specific  ghettos  housing areas for them in each city.

And how do we recognise them as Muslims when they are out on the street - after all not every  Asians is a Muslim and Pakistanis look very similar to Indians?  Maybe making them wear an armband with a crescent moon symbol on it would be useful.

Or perhaps we should leave nothing to chance and simply lock them all up in concentration camps . detention centres.

so tezza you are blaming all those poor small children murdered by that coward muslim (lets not forget he murdered them by running them over in a semi trailer) for all the terrorist attacks in france because it must have been them that treated the colonies so badly? wake up and smell the elephant standing in the room......islam is a religion of hate and I for one (defence force member) agree with sonia.

wake up and smell the elephant standing in the room.

It's a bit hard to smell the elephant in the room when there is so much stench from the hatred some people spurt, when their "values " are questioned or even vaguely exposed. In any act of atrocity a good close look at those responsible should be taken and then severe action should taken to remedy the situation. Running around shouting its all the muslims fault only gives the extremist terrorists comfort and encouragement to repeat it.

They don't use trucks. More likely it's the white phosphorous shells for those in Gaza

You're probably spot on, although I would say that in the very near future they will find some link to link him with ISIS. It would be very handy for this to happen, then they could say all the problems of civil unrest in France is due these Muslems.

I see a lot of good and relevant points being made and I don't think we need to resort to extreme arguments.

But more so focus on the facts without media sensationalism or unresearched speculations however true they may seem.

There are and have been situations arising from certain interpretations of many types of religions over thousands of years.

Yet I think the point to focus on is anyone taking someone's freedom away must accept the consequences, religions aside, that is nature.

And afterall in modern society that is all law is trying to achieve, let each individual choose their own path in life, especially if it doesn't effect anyone else. It is not something mere humans can decide, it is nature, the way of the planet before thought is introduced.

though i don't neccessarily agree with her opinions, I feel that everyone has a right to have a different opinion. Maybe it's not such a good idea for media celebrities like her to express their personal views in public?? not sure on that one

The world was a different place back after WW2, there was lot of hope and optimism, now young Muslims, especially in France, have the highest unemployment rate and no hope for future.  After the WW2 the surviving Jews were given what they wanted = Palestine, and nobody much dared to criticise what they did to the Palestinians because they would be labeled anti Semite.  And so Israel continues to murder and mistreat Palestinians to this day.  So that is one thing why Muslims have a very good right to be upset about, and it is NOT an ancient history.  Learn how Middle East was carved up by western powers, ignoring ethnic communities, cutting some in half and lumping different communities together despite previous problems between them, how they installed/supported dictators who suited them, how they divided Kurdistan between neighboring countries, all in name of cheap oil for the USA.

Of-course, the biggest blunder was invading Iraq.  The genocide of Muslims all over Yugoslavia while we just watched on, is also rather raw.   Disillusioned people, many who were never all that religious, are easy to radicalise and given false hopes, even if only after death.  But it has nothing to do with Islam.  ISIL is just using Islam as a tool to undermine western nations, create havoc and use it all for political purpose to establish Islamic state and get rid off leaders supported by the west or Russia (in case of Syria).  I do not think they will succeed, but they will leave the world much worse, nasty, hateful, selfish.

Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel  was a mentally ill person, he lost his job with the tracking company and was separated from his wife and children.  The first person he hit and killed was a lady wearing hijab.  Everybody who knew him says he was not religious, sounds like he was just punishing the world.

Has anybody watched 4corners  last week?  About young journalist infiltrating some jihadist group; so sad these kids could see the only future for themselves in killing themself and as many strangers as they can.
