New neighbour practises his Bass at all hours day and night and
it echoes right through my flat -and he's not cooperative.
Earplugs don'tusually work for me as I have a funny small ear canal so theyu
pop out..... , so has
anyone had experience with say noise cancelling headphones - ones
that REALLY cancel noise, or any suggestions?
My sanity is at stake. 😉

Check local laws relating to noise.
Complain politely, if you have not already done so.

We had a problem recently and we went and asked the police what the laws are. You don't have to put up with excessive noise day or night.
On the third phone call, they issue a fine. If there are any more calls, they pass the matter on to the local council who can have them evicted. We were talking to the lady on the other side of them and she rang 3 times in one night :O. They have now been evicted.

If he isn't being co operative, I'd call the cops.. I at least try to sort things out before resorting to that, but sounds like this guy isn't being reasonable...

Trouble is they are owners so can't be evicted. I have asked them nicely and they
say ok but it doesn't stop. and I'm not wanting to call the police as I'm
afraid for my pets.
I just wondered about those Noise Cancelling Headphones if anyone has used
them and if they work?

Do you have a body corporate, have meetings, pay a certain amount for maintenance? If you do have meetings I would certainly be bringing it up about noise control. Also, have you spoken to other neighbours as they could be experiencing the same thing. I have had lots of problems with noise and most places have it in their rules and regulations about noise and consideration for neighbours. That's what it boils down to, consideration.

Yes Kay we have a Body Corp and I'm actually on the committee., and we do have rules
about noise control. If it's tenants then usually a complaint to their landlord will fix it but with
owners who are not very pleasant it can be quite difficult to enfonce.
Anyway another letter will be coming their way and meanwhile I'm experimenting with
earplugs. .
