Not buying it !.McCann developments.Wendy Murphy

Investigators are hoping that new information will help solve the mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann.

The then- three-year-old British girl disappeared six years ago while vacationing with her family in Portugal.

Scotland Yard is planning to release a computerized sketch of a possible person of interest in the case.

Former prosecutor Wendy Murphy joined America’s News Headquarters to discuss the development.

"I’m not buying it. I think this is more PR than anything," Murphy said. "I think this is all related to a civil suit now underway in Portugal."

The McCanns sued the former police chief for defamation because he wrote a tell-all book.

Alisyn pointed out that the McCanns claim the Portuguese police never took the case seriously

Not sure what happened and why it isn't shown as copy/paste but my last 2 are.

Freddie, it appears the window could be opened from the outside. It is also unclear if the unit was locked.

Thanks Az, hard to make much sense of this when so much of the important information is unknown.

Yes Freddie, it is hard to understand. I thought the blood found was a match to the little girl but it appears it wasn't.

With the hundreds of British children who went missing in 2007 (and since then)  why is the British Government is spending so much (which could help others also) on one child ?

People are asking questions.I am one of them.We are all being made accessories and need to be given facts if we are to be given anything not unproven evidence ...people have been contributing financially to to their company (ltd)  and other children are missing .

The Bristish police claim to be starting from scratch and that nothing is ruled out ...and yet it seems to be ?

We are told they we know the time of interest is between 8.30pm and 10pm ...how do we know this ?

We are told she was abducted ...how do we know this as fact ?

has it been proven that the Police, the British Government and those who pay tax and donate..those who are the recipients of this controlled/not proven  information  ...have reason not to consider other possibilities ?

not to ask have other possibilities been ruled out yet ?

Is the child registered as 'missing' ?

and why are other possibilities silenced ?

Why are witnesses who change their statements not suspects themselves ..why would changing statements be automatically assumed as reliable fact ?

If the Portugese media wanted to air that crime watch episode on the BBC and their request was denied ..why ? is it not possible that people in the area where the girl went missing may be able to help ?

Yes, dogs can detect blood, but cannot tell whose blood, and in hotel room over time there might be many reasons for blood; cut fingers, bleeding nose, skinned knee.........etc.  Dogs are not trained to distinguish freshly dead body from living person; it is simply not possible.  The dogs, which do not seem to be as fantastic as originally claimed, indicated that they found something - most likely picked up smell of Madelaine, which naturally was all over everything, including the car.  It is said that dogs are some 70% reliable, that means 30% of the time they indicate something that is not right.

Anyway, from the moment Madeleine was reported missing the McCanns were constantly with other people, everywhere they went they were followed by pack of paparazi.  There is no way they could have done anything with a body.

not to ask have all other possibilities been ruled out yet ?

do we know that the sleeping child seen being carried heading towards the beach around 10pm was sleeping ?

I don't know as much about these dogs as you do.

Witnesses are unreliable; there have been many tests done where number of people are shown the same incident, and then asked to describe what they have seen.  You always get some very contradictory statements and descriptions.  Actually, it is people who would repeatedly say exactly the same who are suspicious, because they are rehearsed.  If person is saying what they recall, they may recall slightly different details each time.

I would imagine that the Portuguese do not want any more of this sort of publicity; bet many people with little kids decided not to go there for holidays - not that it makes any sense, as the kidnappers are not likely to go there again.  And considering that most people around were foreigners, it probably would not be much use.

Handler Martin Grimes, who worked with his dogs on the Maddie case, admitted the animals offered no more than "a guide". He said: "They can identify traces of blood and detect the smell of a decomposing body, but that is as far as they go." Martin said his dogs Keela and Eddie would

only give him an indication when they find what they are trained to detect.
