Not buying it !.McCann developments.Wendy Murphy

Investigators are hoping that new information will help solve the mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann.

The then- three-year-old British girl disappeared six years ago while vacationing with her family in Portugal.

Scotland Yard is planning to release a computerized sketch of a possible person of interest in the case.

Former prosecutor Wendy Murphy joined America’s News Headquarters to discuss the development.

"I’m not buying it. I think this is more PR than anything," Murphy said. "I think this is all related to a civil suit now underway in Portugal."

The McCanns sued the former police chief for defamation because he wrote a tell-all book.

Alisyn pointed out that the McCanns claim the Portuguese police never took the case seriously

Do you really care about the children that go missing in the UK every year. Do you read the news there everyday and take note of who is missing and who is found etc?

I think its crazy people would put so much effort into reading and believing dodgy blogs totally made up of opinions over actual police documents... madness

I agree. Also  some of  those blogs are trying to convince their readers that the McCanns know what happened to Maddie/ had something to do with her disappearance, despite that the parents have never been arrested or charged,  also that the McCanns are only keeping the investigation alive so they can get more money from the Fund set up to help find Maddie etc.

The foundation to find Maddy is also active in finding other children.

The more focus that is on finding her, the more attention to other missing children. Iza, as you raised the name, did you know about thoe 2 children you mentioned above, before you took this interest in the case?

I think the idea that the McCanns killed their daughter, and then sat in the restaurant as if nothing happened, is just totally ridiculous.

its not so far fetched - ever heard of casey anthony, darle routier, susan smith to name just three on a long list who have murdered their children and carried on their lives...

Carrying on with their lives is one thing; but within hours being able to be with group of friends without showing any signs of something being not right, is another story.  Not to mention that there is nothing in the McCanns' life to suggest that they could not cope, or any motive for doing something like that.  No history of child abuse or anything else.

Routier and Smith are in jail.   All three were the prime suspects from day one.  Sometimes the police encourage them to "get on with their lives" for days or weeks in order to accumulate evidence.  Same with all the husbands who go on TV and cry about their "missing" wives.

The BBC's 'Crimewatch' made great play of the McCann case here on Wednesday, with another 'reconstruction'. Nothing we didn't already know. Despite asking the general public for help on the programme, there has been a deathly silence from the police, and nothing reported in the media. Well up to now, anyway.

With the hundreds of British children who went missing in 2007 (and since then)  why is the British Government is spending so much (which could help others also) on one child ?

People are asking questions.I am one of them.We are all being made accessories and need to be given facts if we are to be given anything not unproven evidence ...people have been contributing financially to to their company (ltd)  and other children are missing .

The Bristish police claim to be starting from scratch and that nothing is ruled out ...and yet it seems to be ?

We are told they we know the time of interest is between 8.30pm and 10pm ...how do we know this ?

We are told she was abducted ...how do we know this as fact ?

has it been proven that the Police, the British Government and those who pay tax and donate..those who are the recipients of this controlled/not proven  information  ...have reason not to consider other possibilities ?

not to ask have other possibilities been ruled out yet ?

Is the child registered as 'missing' ?

and why are other possibilities silenced ?

Why are witnesses who change their statements not suspects themselves ..why would changing statements be automatically assumed as reliable fact ?

If the Portugese media wanted to air that crime watch episode on the BBC and their request was denied ..why ? is it not possible that people in the area where the girl went missing may be able to help ?

How are we being made accessories?

That's a really confusing assumption.

Should we be told the facts? probably no..............police don't usually tell the public anything in case it jeopardises what they already know.

I don't think anyone is being forced to give donations and anything Scotland Yard are spending will be within their budget...............

Questioning Scotland Yard's honesty is a bit dangerous? They could sue.
