Investigators are hoping that new information will help solve the mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann.
The then- three-year-old British girl disappeared six years ago while vacationing with her family in Portugal.
Scotland Yard is planning to release a computerized sketch of a possible person of interest in the case.
Former prosecutor Wendy Murphy joined America’s News Headquarters to discuss the development.
"I’m not buying it. I think this is more PR than anything," Murphy said. "I think this is all related to a civil suit now underway in Portugal."
The McCanns sued the former police chief for defamation because he wrote a tell-all book.
Alisyn pointed out that the McCanns claim the Portuguese police never took the case seriously

The other families at the table left their children alone in the rooms...............why is no one suggesting they be charged?
because their children didn't go missing?

and how many would leave their children after their 3 yr old and 2 2 yr olds after they ask over the breakfast table why didn't you come when we cried last night ?
using the words 'we' thought we were OK .The children crying for them the night before didn't register as part of 'we' not being OK ?
So, for the third time, what is this ANYTHING ELSE? If the McCanns know they have not covered up Madelaeines death, then what possibilities, other than abduction, should they be aking the police to investigate?
And whether or not they ought to have left the children asleep in bed while they went out is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT to your argument..

I did not suggest that anyone be charged.

I'm sorry TGSE.I think you are seeing an argument ...simply because I acknowledge that I don't know the facts ..there has been NO court case to determine what has happened .The case can be RE Opened in the Country it actually accured in if more evidence is found .I have read and acknowledge what has been done ,the statements make blah blah blah officials in Portugal as well as in the UK.If that is or should be a problem ...tough ! .The McCann's are telling us they didn't. As yet all I know for a fact is that a child is missing .
If that book was meant to dispell my thoughts on things being suss ...it has done the opposite. I hope that the author can accept that from readers who may feel as I do .
and if the author didn't feel that their thoughts and actions were relevant to a reader ....they should have left them out .

Iza, your exact words were:
"The book makes it look so suspicious .Like a huge attempt to point to abduction over anything else that may happen. How many people think that their children only cry due to abduction ?
What other theories do you think the McCanns should be puting forward?

since it hasn't gone to Court and could do in the future ...I don't know that they should be putting any theories out themselves.nor do I think their private investigators should be meeting with key witnesses ,nor be given the details on new suspects from the Leichester police ..there was a legal process in the family court so that that could happen.Possibly at the time Maddie was made ward of the state/court ? that enabled their pi's to do more .
If Portugal ever found the evidence they needed to convict ..imo the legal process has been compromised by Investigators ,including the Company recently involved in International espionarge (who made the efit Mr Smith aka key witness did in 2008),,,making visits to anyone who could be vital to the case that may not be in their favour is imo wrong.
I think that it's all very odd

Heartbreaking is what it is................rather than odd, imo.
Polks, I was asking a general question, not insinuating you said anything.

..I don't know that they should be putting any theories out themselves.
Iza, they have been accused of deliberately covering up the death of their daughter and illegally disposing of her body - don't you think they have a right to defend thmelves?

yes there has been a lot printed TGSE .accusations thrown at other people, law enforcement in both the UK and Portugal, a 27 yr career in the PJ police force trashed ..his marriage ruined ,all sorts of difficulties due to problems with the UK and PJ working together (UK used for dna, sperm testing (found on childs bedspread ),other possible suspects names and pics printed and all sorts of horrible stuff .
things like this didn't help I'm sure .
The heat didn’t die down in September. The McCanns feared prosecution and they were looking for some monumental change in direction. For all the power plays shown in the previous four months, the Portuguese police were diligently carrying out their homicide investigation. The damning witness statements from the Gaspars had been deliberately delayed [after ‘internal’ directives] and Portugal was still unaware that McCann and Payne had been described as possible sexual perverts by their doctor friends from Birmingham. The main problem with the case from the McCanns’ point of view was their adversary: Inspector Gonçalo Amaral.

The Maddeline McCann - Leave no stone unturned fund - is a "not-for-profit" (i.e. a limited company in UK companies law)
horrible stuff ...
I hope that Justice can be done for that child and that those who are involved (whoever they may be) are punished to the full extent of the Law .
