The video tape below shows Russian Navy commandos on a Somalian pirate ship shortly after the pirates had captured a Russian oil tanker.

The Euro Union navy that patrols these waters would not interfere because they feared there could be casualties.

So the Russian Navy Commandos freed their compatriots and the tanker, and then moved the pirates back to their own pirate ship.  The Russians searched the pirate ship for weapons and explosives, and found plenty! And then they left the ship and exploded it with all remaining pirates hand-cuffed to it.

Yes, the commandos sank the pirate ship along with the pirates and without any court proceedings, lawyers, etc
.  They used the anti-piracy laws of the 18th and 19th centuries where the captain of the rescuing ship has the right to decide what to do with the pirates.   Usually, they were hanged.

Re: Not for the faint hearted.

The video in the OP is titled "Russian Adm Panteleev (sic)  " DDG - 548" captures the pirates and destroys enemy ship.

But the description in the OP does not match.

2009

A Russian warship captured a suspected pirate vessel with 29 people on board off the coast of Somalia, Russian news agencies reported on Wednesday, citing defense ministry sources.

Russia's Admiral Panteleyev anti-submarine ship seized the vessel 15 miles off the coast of Somalia at 1212 GMT on Tuesday, the Interfax and RIA Novosti news agencies reported.

"Seven Kalashnikov rifles, various pistols and an aluminum ladder were discovered during a search of the ship," RIA Novosti quoted the source as saying. Satellite navigation equipment and a large amount of ammunition was also seized.

"This allows us to assume that this group of pirates undertook two unsuccessful attempts to seize the TF Commander tanker with a Russian crew that was traveling through this region yesterday," RIA quoted the source as saying.

The "opening post spiel" is a C&P from the video within the OP's link. You can't see it because the link is embedded. The link I posted as a direct link (the same video) you can read the comments C&Ped....written by the poster of the video (not the writter of the article or the poster of the op), and worded incorrectly.

The incident was 2009, the tankers crew repelled the pirates which the Russian  captain later caught.

One incident, 2009. I don't see any reference anywhere to the same captain sinking pirate ships in 2010.

yeah....there are references to it all over the net

I don't like copying scrollers, but see what I mean? One and the same. That's talking about 2009.

Either way...not important, lol.

Re: Not for the faint hearted.

Those 2009 pirates didn't capture a Russian oil tanker though. They were 'suspected' pirates. If they had captured a Oil tanker, they would still be on the oil tanker when the Russian Navy came to regain control over it? therefore why call them suspected pirates.

If they gained control of a oil tanker, surely they would have taken most of their weapons with them to do that.

Later 8 of the 'suspected' pirates were found to be Iranians captured by pirates and released back to Iran. So how could they have killed all the pirates at the time of finding them?

It is not your info I am doubting, jimmy.

The cut and paste spiel reposted in the opening post , lacks details (year, name of Russian tanker etc ), is misleading and inaccurate.

Especially this bit: And then they left the ship and exploded it with all remaining pirates hand-cuffed to it.

Yes! 🙂  Written by the poster of the video....in the one I posted. The same video from the op.

Re: Not for the faint hearted.

The spiel lacks details no matter where it originated from.. would have been easy enough to name the Russian ship and the year it happened.. but no they just make general claims.

The 2009 incident the pirates were captured and taken back to Russia? 8 were released.

How can they claim they got handcuffed on the boat and killed?

The 2010 incident-- not so clear what happend to pirates.. official version they got put on a boat and sent off (without navigation aids)

OK, so the video footage is from 2009 and the description is supposed to be referring to the  2010 incident?
