Nuisance phone calls

I have been getting nuisance phone calls on my landline, day and middle of the night, and so I decided to get a new number.  I cannot for the life of me think who I have to tell?   I just do not remember if my power and gas supplier, or bank, or anybody else needs to be notified?  Help please.  🙂

I keep my mobile number private, do not give it to anybody except close friends and family.  I do not like the idea that anybody can contact me anytime anywhere.  I just tell pople I do not have one.

Sad thing is Kazumi - you will probably still get nuisance phone calls.

The phone calls are to very random numbers - if you have a  ' number ' it will eventually come up.

These calls cannot be prevented by the  ' do not call list ' - simply because they are not generated by a legit supplier - but usually something like Skype.

It is probaby easier to deal with them - hang up on them - or have fun with the suuckers.

But hope it woks for you.

i get calls, most days, only on my land line.

i dont think changing numbers will work as i think these 'people' use 'number dialing software'

it just rings numbers randomly (possibly from a data base but who knows)

once you answer that number definately goes into a data base of 'live' numbers.

live numbers get shared and called, often.

ive learned to live with them and have some fun with them, see my post re scam calls.

as long as you know no real agency contacts you by phone with offers to fix something or you owe something or you have won something then you just hang up, unless you want to play with them, string them along for a while. just leave the phone while you have a nap.

there are a million ways to upset them.

The thing is I did not have this problem until about week ago.  Now I keep getting several a day and there was one at 1.30am.

Answering phone is not fun for me; I can hardly walk nowadays, and getting up to the phone in the middle of the night is downright dangerous for me.  When it rings I of-course immediately think that something happened to my daughter or granddaughter; there is no way i will let it ring, and think let them call in the morning.  And once it wakes me, I cannot go back to sleep for ages.

The guy at Optus told me to change the number, and that is what is happening.  Must remember to put the new number on "no call list".

My landline is a silent number.

If they're just random dialling, they're not getting me.

Check your phone bill.     It will say if it's still a silent number.

I'm with Optus as well.
