OMG! Here in my home town!

I can't believe this is happening in sleepy little Bunbury. I think the guy has some sort of gripe over the Domestic Violence Inquiry. I hope to God it is safely resolved soon.Smiley Surprised

Re: OMG! Here in my home town!

It's right in the middle of town. In a park opposite the cinema complex.  He has explosives and at least one hostage and  a banner with some weird message about releasing the Batty Archibald report. It's obviously something he's planned and not just a spur of the moment brain snap.

Re: OMG! Here in my home town!

Apparantly the sign says "Release Batty Archibald CCC Report". I have no idea who or what Batty Archibald is.

Rosie Batty?
That's all I could come up with, especially if it's about family violence?
I hope it's over soon and without injury.

Re: OMG! Here in my home town!

Posters on our local crime stoppers page are suggesting the man may be David Charles Batty who was arrested in July last year following a siege in Kings Park in Perth where he held his own father hostage for four hours.   He escaped from a Perth psychiatric hospital while undergoing a pre trial assessment and has not been seen or heard of since.

Sounds terrible, but at least it seems the police have the situation well contained.  I can't find anything about what's written on the sign, but if it's DCB & he's escaped from a psychiatric hospital - maybe it doesn't really mean anything ?  Just something in his mind ?

I do hope everyone remains safe - such a beautiful quiet place (well it was about 35 years ago when I travelled around a small part of WA, lol).  Stay safe . . . .  and I hope the police can talk sense with him and diffuse & resolve the situation without anyone being harmed.
