I have been buying things from op shops since I was a teenager. I love browsing through the weird and wonderful things you might find.
Some are better than others, sometimes it's nothing but junk and then other times you can walk out with bags of amazing things!
Who else here is addicted to op shopping, and which ones do you think are the best to buy from?

I used to frequent them but found I ended up bring home items I really didn't need or want. Rarely go into one now, prefer the local on line sale sites if I am looking for something

debra and stawka,beautiful finds!
i love secondhand stores and thrift stores. like second said, most of my wardrobe and furniture comes from thrift stores, and a huge amount of my kitchen gadgets too, along with books, movies, music and my beloved pins.
my best recent find was in florida this past january. we were driving around, just meandering,so i could take some pics of art deco architecture, and ran across a store that was just opening, still moving stuff in,it was a hot mess!
i was poking through bins, and found a big ole ziplock bag filled with miscellaneous jewelry, watches and buttons. i spotted a band pin in there that my hubby wanted,so i asked if i could buy it for 5 dollars. the young man gave me the whole bag for 5 dollars!
i ended up making over 400 dollars on scrap gold and silver, and 200 from a broken watch!!
and i got 5 new pins,3 new rings and 24 charms for myself, and have very happy baby sisters and nieces who got all the unbroken jewelry i didn't want.
brad went back a few weeks later and got a computer tower for 24 dollars that he scavenged parts from for his tower, then sold the rest of it for 115 dollars!
we plan to go back there when i visit next year, because they had china that was to die for,and they were such nice boys!

Nope, we have different definitions of what is a shame.

No, not fun if I, I mean if one, can't stand the smell.
Nah, give me an antique store, they have a smell too, usually okay.
And someone said something about walking in and being able to tell instantly if it was going to be good. Yeah, that's what happens to me, I can sense if I'm going to find something good or if it'll be a huge waste of time, just junk, phony stuff.

Country Op shops generally have the cheapest prices. It's harder to find a treasure in one, but when you do the prices are very reasonable.

sin,
what a great find that bag of jewellery was. I don't think I've ever found any good jewellrey but one of my friends always does.
sometimes you find nothing for ages then all of a sudden you do come across something that makes it all worthwhile
