Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

Sometime in early 2007, the Craft Board quilters got together and organised a Block Swap. We had to design and prepare enough blocks to make a quilt for ourselves, provide the first block completed and send the package on to the other crafty people in the swap.
We each completed a block in everyone's set.
My quilt was for my grandsons' bedroom in my home. I set a theme of teddy bears and boy's toys.
Most of these quilts have been finished for some time....... but.... I could not make a decision on how to do mine until recently.
I learned so much in that year and can't thank everyone who was involved enough! My applique skills are much improved.
So, thank you ♥

I have also sewn the labels of the blockmakers onto the back of the quilt, behind the relevant blocks.
I made mine into a quillow, a quilt that folds into a pillow, so one of the blocks is on the back of the quilt and when folded into it, becomes a pillow.
My 3 yo grandaughter looked at it and said "Gran, that is brilliant" and that is a good recommendation, so I have to thank everyone who was involved.

Back later to check out the links, but Janome make that metal foot with the black guide, which is what I was using, but found difficult, they now also make a clear foot which actually comes with two changeable metal bits so you can make it an in the ditch foot or a 1/4" foot. It has markings on it in red, and is shaped in where the 1/4" mark is. If you don't put the guides on and just line the edge of the foot up with the edge of the fabric you get a perfect 1/4" seam.

I just find it heaps easier, sometimes my fabric would actually sneak under the black thing rather than right beside it and I wouldn't see that when I was sewing.

The other Janome thing I bought was a darning foot, but sprung for tipple quilting. Supposed to be much easier to use as you can infinitely adjust the height according to the thickness of your batting so flows better.

It was very expensive ($130) and I still haven't mastered the art of stippling.

Chuk, thanks for the permission.....constant nagging coming up!

Puddle...given the cost of most of our machines....the $130 is not much....and I like the sound of it...
:8}
off to look at that site...
My hexagons were made using freezer paper....draw the shape, iron it on to 1 layer and cut out several at a time.
sew round all edges with right sides facing.....
cut hexagon shaped iron on pellon and apply to one side.
snip a hole in other side and turn inside out....
draw hex shape on vliesofix and iron onto feature fabric, cut out and apply to coaster, covering the hole, buttonhole or satin stitch edges.
I can do 6 in 30 mins. now.
Teachers were so excited today when they got their coasters.....and I did not have to explain what they were.:^O

I am here on and off girls, hubby is very needy ATM, not getting much sewing done. I have a newly made raggy quilt on the line, will take a pic when I have washed it again.

I bought a bobbin winder yesterday, I get so annoyed when I have to keep re threading the machine.LOL Must be getting old, running out of patience.

Looking forward to seeing the new raggy Miss Linda....my last raggy went to Fiji for a holiday with miss 4....she calls it fluffy...the original fluffy is in the linen cupboard, in pieces, apparently. :^O

Very cute quilt keeli. My daughter took me into our local quilting shop the other day....she's now very keen for me to get started on my quilting career lol She picked out several samples that she would like! She even made some inquiries about a new sewing machine, not for her of course....then she noted the prices!!
