Oldest article of clothing you still wear.

Following up from a post on the op shop thread, what is the oldest item you still wear. Mine is a skirt I have had for 10 years. I relegated it to 'around the house' wear this year. I did have a dressing gown I loved, I threw it out this year as well. My OH shamed me into it. I remember my son was in his pusher when I bought it. He is 38 this year. 😞

I have an anorak that is probably around 20 years old. I don't wear it much, so it is in good condition. It doesn't look out of date, as can still buy similar now. It is good quality fabric and was quite expensive when I bought it, probably why I hang on to it.

I try and toss out everything I haven't worn for a bit so I have room to fit all the new things. I have slowed down a lot though (shopping),  i have a few 50/ 60's dresses that I wear and a black 70's fake fur coat. I would love a fox stole as long as it was vintage, no point the fox dying for nothing - I would wear it. I have 2 dresses that I promised Mr B I would never throw out or stop wearing because they were a little expensive.

Re: Oldest article of clothing you still wear.

My mother knitted me a lovely coral coloured jumper back in about 1960.  I loved it and wore it everywhere.  It got a good workout in the 1970s when I lived in Canberra.

I found it too warm when I came back to Sydney so packed it away until my eldest daughter found it in the 1980s when she was going on a trip to the snow.  She has worn it off and on and I have just heard that my granddaughters have laid claim to it....daughter is a bit miffed as she found it a good standby when she went to visit her sister and nieces in Goulburn.

I might have to dig out the 2 ski jumpers I knitted in 1965 for myself and then fiance, later OH.   They were fairly close fitting so should be suitably sloppy on the grandies.

I have a black, lambswool skivvy that's 46 years old.  My mother wore when she was a mod in the sixties.  She bought it when she was 19.  I wear it every winter, and it is still jet black and as good as new.  The only thing I've had to do is repair some holes where the neck joined the body, but that was just stitching coming undone.

Mine is a pink sloppy joe with silver blotches that I bought when I was pregnant. My son turned 24 last week! Over the last few months it has developed a couple of small holes but as it's for indoor wear only these days it will live on ...

I have a fitted tweed sports coat that I bought on Canarby Street in 1967......however it is a little too fitted for me these days.

I also bought a summer white military tunic from "I was Lord Kitchener's Valet" at the same time.........but my brother somehow ended up with that.  I actually have a picture of me wearing it on board the USS Constitution in the summer of 68.  Take note of the skin-tight elephant bells...........
