For me a hero is someone who. trained or not, faces incredible odds and overcomes fear to save others...

CFA volunteers are definitely heroes.
Any one that triumphs over incredible odds is a hero.

Hi Vin ๐ yes, this is one of the reasons I consider the volunteer firies in the rural ares such heros... Yes, they do it to fight fires and try and save property and people, but over and over again they go beyond the call of duty...
... and that means they actually break their own training rules and put themselves in danger to save others... something they are asked not to do because it could mean their deaths as well as the other people they are trying to save... still some of them go ahead and thankfully they mostly succeed.

Darkie, I have spoken to volunteer fieries, one who has a young family has been captain of a country pumpa truck for years, he says he has seen enough and wants to quit but there is no one to take his place so he just keeps going out to fires every year. Another young woman, also with a young family was out on a truck fighting fires in another district only to come home to find her own house completely gone ( Black Saturday fires in Vic ) ....she is still a volunteer fiery and so is her Husband.......she cried in my arms for all of it!!..... These people are heroes to me.
