Oscar Pistorius

I'm surprised there's no thread already about this. Is it because it's not an Australian case?

People who live in apartments or flats would probably call them ground floor & first floor

i think you will find that the definition of ground floor

has generally been accepted as the floor of a building closest to the ground.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

Ok Julia

But upstairs is generally the 2nd floor and a ladder would be needed to access a 2nd floor window, lol

Re: Oscar Pistorius

My thoughts are that here (in Australia), it would be ground floor on the bottom, then 1st floor etc. In the US, the first floor is what we'd call the ground floor.

The window to the left of Julia's picture looks too small to climb into???

that would be the toilet  window.  i think the claim was

the intruder gained entry through the bathroom window and

hid in the toilet ???

And waited until the couple finished their shouting argument because he was scared?

How did he get past the security which costs zillions?

Re: Oscar Pistorius

But there was no intruder Julia.  It was his girlfriend.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

bottom line: he intended to shoot whoever was in the bathroom.  If you point a gun at someone and pull the trigger (4 times) chances are you are going to kill that person.  He may not have intended to shoot Reeva, but he sure as heck intended to shoot someone.

As the person in the bathroom hadn't threatened him, it's not really self defence either is it.

Civilians who shoot first, ask questions later shouldn't have guns.
