Oscar Pistorius

I'm surprised there's no thread already about this. Is it because it's not an Australian case?

Re: Oscar Pistorius

I'm in two minds about it as well.

He killed Reeva in a moment of reckless, angry, possibly drug- or steroid fuelled stupidity. He should do penance for it of some kind. Incarceration? Yes, but....

I think when he came to his senses and realised what he did, his remorse was insurmountable, and very public, and it melted the hearts of many, including Reeva's parents. I don't think it was an act.

If he gets off a gaol term he should not be allowed to re-enter public life as a feted paralympian or be allowed to profit from the story.

He should devote the rest of his life in making it up to her family and doing good works.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

Was he remorseful?  Even the judge remarked on his acting ability.

He continued his relationship with his girlfriend immediately, he was invovlved in an incident in a nightclub where he was asked to leave.  He is the typical entitled brat of wealthy parents.

How awful for the Steenkamps if he walks free or even does a short jail sentence.  They know what happened.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

Reeva's father was on the news being interviewed, and when asked by a BBC reporter if he thought that Pistorious was guilty of murder, showing remarkable restraint he simply smiled and nodded in the affirmative. No rage, no anger, just a calm and relaxed persona.

Oh, meant to add that I read a report that OP had taken acting lessons before the trial. He denied this.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

Katy reading reading in the article you posted about his relationship or non relationship with his father makes this ruling seem very odd

n the second charge, Pistorius was found not guilty of having illegal ammunition at his house. Masipa said the state failed to introduce evidence that proved he intended to possess the ammunition. Pistorius had said he was storing it in a safe for his father.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

It doesn't look much like he "melted the heart" of her parents.

Perfect example of how money brings power.  As I said in #87, he is the darling/poster boy of Seth Effrica.  The power of this prevents any severe verdict or sentence.
