I'm surprised there's no thread already about this. Is it because it's not an Australian case?

That's right, Freddie. For me, it's about how much I admired him and what he'd overcome and what generally seemed to be such a positive attitude. I was disappointed when he made negative comments at the Olympics ... and I've been more disappointed at other things he's said and done that have come to light recently.
I don't think it's even tall poppy syndrome here ... I think it's real sadness that someone found it impossible to live up to our expectations of them morally as well as athletically.

True Katy, and yes Nev the steroid theory I believe will play a major role in his conviction.

I don't really think wealth has anything to do with the interest in this case, it's more the fact he was an exceptional athlete and held in high regard due to his disability, and his ability to overcome adversity.
you could be right...
I heard a comment on The Drum tonight... something along the line of it being fascinating because it was a disabled man with no legs that killed a beautiful model...
I guess you could not even write a script for a movie like that...

He didn't kill a beautiful model. He killed someone's daughter.
I don't know what The Drum is, by the sounds of it, don't care. What I am interested in is the why? Is this just a run of the mill domestic situation? Is it about steroids? The pressure of being someone you're really not? The changing stories, first he didn't have his prosthetic legs on, then he did. He went out to get something from the balcony, then heard a noise from the bathroom and went for the gun. It's all very strange, when you consider the defence is self defence because he thought it was an intruder. Does the high profile make someone think they can get away with it? And yes, OJ comes to mind here.

Will be interesting this evening to see what the verdict is.

He murdered and young women, dont care if she was beautiful or not, she was some ones little girl.

He seems to be a hothead. Combine that with access to guns, and it is a recipe for disaster.

I feel so sad for her family, by all accounts she was a beloved daughter.
