Everytime I clean my oven its the same frustration nothing works!!! I have tried almost everything under the sun bar the Shelley's 30 min one because if I do it'll take off the paint. Tried what feels like a million different cleaners (ok not that many on the market but you get what I mean) over the years including the vinegar and ammonia method. Every spray known to man and then today oven power with zero success. Someone shoot me please!!! Cleaned it twice already and does nothing. GRRRR I wish I could just buy a new one every 6 months ๐ Now there's an idea! lol Ok vent over!

Are ya supposed to clean ovens?
They still work if ya don't.
I just put foil in the bottom to catch the crumbs/drips.

LOL Richo!!!
Yes foil in the bottom of the oven does work but my oven manual advises against it so with this oven I haven't done that. I have a westinghouse 776S cook top combination. Love the cook top not the oven, oven is a nightmare to clean and it cooks unevenly. When I win the lotto I'll buy another.......oh wait I don't buy tickets lol now that would be a miracle!

I solved my old oven cleaning problem (and believe me, mine was bad as I can no longer get down to floor level to clean it) when I was leafing through one of those coupon business saver newsletters. There it was in black and white - someone local who cleaned ovens and the coupon was for a 50% discount.
I can't remember what it cost, but really does it matter? I phoned the number and the guy came out about a week later. He had his work cut out but he did a great job with a small steam cleaner, basic eco friendly cleaning materials, elbow grease...and no harsh chemicals.
After that I have put one of those silicon sheets down under the element to keep the base clean. When the oven needs a good clean again I will be phoning the guy to do it.

I don't cook in the oven anymore.
But in the "olden times" roasts followed by baked custards or cakes helped to moisten the walls of the oven and easier to clean at washing up time. (Bit like boiling a cup of water in the microwave for 30 seconds.)
Uneven cooking within the oven can be due to the oven not being level.
Hope this helps.

My sister swears by woollies home brand oven cleaner.
Personally I use Norwex oven cleaner.
I now also put a bigger pan under anything I cook in the oven so no spills, and use Oven Bags.

Thanks all, I can't put anything on the bottom of my oven as there is a covered element there that you are not supposed to put things on or it effects the way the oven cooks. I do tend to put things in trays etc. I recommend no one use the oven power check out what its done to my oven rack. Chemical reaction by the looks stuffed them ๐ Annoyed as its a fairly new oven.

If you insist on cleaning your oven then buy a steam wand
and steam clean the mongrel it yourself.
Ya never know - could be fun. Those steam thingies can be used
for lotsa fiddly jobs like around taps, hard to get at places etc
Economic and environmentally good too
