Abbotts plan is pretty good for some.. . its a bit sexist though. men cant stay at home instead ? what if the mother is the one with career taking off ? very short sighted and elitist.

I think, but am not sure, that Labor's plan allows mother and father to share the 18 weeks, thereby recognising how important it is for fathers to bond with newborns, something conservatives would deem unnecessary (women's work, this baby stuff).
