More Pension Increases

Pension Indexation

New indexation arrangements were implemented as part of the Government's Secure and Sustainable Pension Reforms.

The most recent pension increase took effect from 20 March 2013. It resulted in an increase of $35.80 a fortnight for single pensioners and $54.00 a fortnight for pensioner couples combined on the maximum rate.

This new system of indexation, along with the Government’s pension reform boosts, has delivered pension increases of around $207 per fortnight for single pensioners and around $236 per fortnight for pensioner couples combined, since September 2009.

PENSION RATE CUT

Very much doubt a 74 yo would be able to find a job, they'd have to be pretty exceptional, no offence to anyone in that age bracket. Also they should not have to work.

I don't expect people to grovel and say thanks but I do wish they would stop whinging when they do get a rise. It seems no amount is ever enough. Oh yes the amount of pension is not enough, never will be.  I have a rellie who lives in govt housing, first thing out her mouth is how much they are going to take, every time.

Incidentally my OH and I ran a Co. for 40 years and paid HEAPS of tax and employed heaps of people.

Not to be rude but didn't you put anything in place for your retirement.

I am very tempted to call you an unintelligent bovine but I won't. In case you didn't notice many  people (either through advanced age or ill health) are not able to mow their own lawns or walk their own dogs let alone do it for others to earn extra $.

I suppose I could always lash her-indoors to the lawnmower so she doesn't fall off - steering for her would be a bit of a problem, but she'll have to manage. She could do dog-walking too from her mobility chair - no excuses - then if her battery goes flat she could always force the dog to tow her home. Thanks for those ideas. I'll bounce it off her and see what she says.

Bring back Soylent Green - that would solve all the problems.

If you care to read back, you will see that I said " reasonably healthy", and not with difficult circumstances as one poster here has (which I did not know about).

But don't let the truth get in the way of an unpleasant post.

BTW, I am in the top 3% of the population as far as intelligence goes.  Where are you placed?
