Yes, in some parts of the world that is exactly what some Muslims are doing. ISIS and Boko Haram are two well known examples of this.

Re: Pauline Hanson calls for ban on Muslim immigration

I am also guessing some children were removed for what were looked on then as humanitarian reasons, to remove them from dysfunctional family life. Misguided perhaps but not every case was done with the wrong motives. I do realise the way to hell is paved with good intentions.

Guessing, when it comes to events like the Stolen Generation, is probably not a good idea - it leads to all kinds of misconceptions. There probably were children removed from dysfunctional families and given a better life but that was not the reason they were removed. They were removed in compliance with a stated government policy to take "half caste" children from their families and, as far as possible  expunge all traces of Aboriginality from their make up.

It was called assimilation,  but once it had been accomplished - and of course it was only really possible  with the very light skinned children - these 'orphans'  were sent out into Australian society as second class citzens, explicitly trained to work as servants for their 'betters,'

And while all this was going on, there  would almost certainly  have been some full -blood  children also living in dysfunctional families, but nobody ever  sought to 'rescue' them.

Nice reply, I think I understand where you're coming from. It's difficult to acknowledge some things from our country's past when we weren't directly involved or they happened before we were born. In the end, all we can do is weigh up history and form an opinion. But please don't feel sad that I think part of our past is shameful. Shame can be a good thing, it can be the motivation for humanitarian attempts to bond groups, rather than ban them, as Ms Hanson would have it.

You don't seem to understand the koran. It is the immutable word of the prophet and is not open to interpretation, explanation, or emendation. The koran opens with:

There is no doubt to be found in the koran. It doesn't invite 'experts' to offer interpretations. It is the immutable word of the prophet.

*Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests*

i wonder if he'd be so easy going about killing the wrong people if syrians blew up the MCG in grand final day and said, "oops, we thought it was a group of terrorists"

Actually Mr Person, I too am grateful to tezza2844 for informing the debate. I didn't realize how much killing the the good Book directs. I must have nine lives. And a rather famous person was crucified for not listening to the priests. I just didn't know it was mandated!

Gee davidc4430, you have a very vivid imagination. I wonder what the world would be like if religion were to be banned.

It is a fact bjackson0000 that the holy books of all major religions are dripping with blood. The 'faithful' love nothing more than reading a violent bedtime story. Peace be with you.

what you dont seem to understand is anyone who reads any written work and then tries to tell others what it means is putting their own thoughts on what the original author was trying to put into words on paper.

you interpret the written words, not what was in the authors mind. only the author can say what the meaning of his words are in this instance IMO

Here's a challenge for you davidc4430; disregard what I said about the koran 5:51. Can you enlighten us as to what the verse means?
