People who do not vaccinate will lose $

From January 2016 parents who do not vaccinate their kids will lose up to $15 000 in allowances/concessions, except in cases of medical  and some religious reasons.

Shedding is not usually a problem because most vaccines... (usually and most being the operative words) It can and does happen (even if some sources say it's extremely rare and some say it's quite common) I'm perplexed as to why people are so sure that vaccines actually immunize because nobody is ever tested following their shots to see if the vaccine has prompted an immune response and in the event of an outbreak just as many vaxxed as unvaxxed present at the emergency room.

Scientists and doctors do know however that by using vaccines to induce immunization in people we are infact trying to cheat nature. We are using adjuvants to prompt our immune systems to react in a way that produces antibodies against the virus that is being vaccinated against. And according to science, if these antibodies have been produced (in an lab rat or monkey or petrie dish) then the vaccination has done it's job. And sometimes fast tracked onto the market before knowing what the effects of the vaccine will be on a human population. And there are no ways of knowing the long term effects of a; the 414% increase in the vaccination schedule for children under 6 and b; the long term effects of such an invasive vaccination schedule.

Small pox has been eradicated by vccinations and we do not need to vaccinate against it any more.  Few years ago Polio was almost gone, mainly isolated to few places in Africa and Pakistan (?) and it was expected that we may be able to stop vaccinating against it within few years.  Then people stopped vaccinating and now there are suspected cases of polio in the USA where previously there were none since 1979.  It is only matter of time before there will be more as the immunisation levels keep dropping.  Just because tiny minority of people does not develop immunity when vaccinated, does not mean that vaccination is not effective.

Herd immunity:

When a high percentage of the population is vaccinated, it is difficult for infectious diseases to spread because there are not many people who can be infected. For example, if someone with measles is surrounded by people who are vaccinated against measles, the disease cannot easily be passed on to anyone, and it will quickly disappear again. This is called ‘herd immunity’, and it gives protection to vulnerable people such as newborn babies, elderly people and those who are too sick to be vaccinated.

Herd immunity does not protect against all vaccine-preventable diseases. The best example of this is tetanus, which is caught from bacteria in the environment, not from other people who have the disease. No matter how many people around you are vaccinated against tetanus, it will not protect you from tetanus.

How does Herd Immunity work?

Herd immunity only works if most people in the population are vaccinated (for example, 19 out of every 20 people need to be vaccinated against measles to protect people who are not vaccinated). If majority of people are not vaccinated, herd immunity is not guaranteed to protect them.

So seeing as adults make up approx 50% of the population and most aren't vaccinated (or up to date with their reccommended boosters) How could we possibly have herd immunity now?

I don't care if you vaccinate or not but would you mind at least hanging a sign around the neck and that of your family members who are not vaccinated so the rest of us can keep our children and ourselves away from you and yours.

Overall though the most ridiculous thing about this policy is, if low income parents who dont vaccinate cant get their kids into childcare centres, or have to pay their entire part time wage (or half of their full-time wage) to a private centre or in home Nanny.  Then they will be forced to leave their jobs to stay home and look after their children.  Which in turn will cost the govt even more in parenting payments and FTB A and B.  It's fear mongering at it's worst, and I urge Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison to spend a few hours, say 5 researching vaccines and immunology Watch a lecture by Suzanne Humphries. And follow up on a couple of her sources (she has plenty) then have a good hard look at what this policy actually stands for.

Oh my.  Absolutely typical response for someone who knows they cant answer my questions. Have a go, please try to find someone who has debunked Suzanne Humphries.  I'd love to see it.

Why would you chose low income parents?  Vaccination for children is free in Australia isn't it? Therefore there is no financial reason for them to not have their kids immunised.

Because those are the ones this policy targets. If a low income parent decides not to vaccinate and therefore cant get their child into a govt funded daycare (because thats what this thread is about, cutting child care payments to low income families who choose to not vaccinate) then they will be forced to stay home and look after their children rather than go to work.

I am pro-vacination, even though i now have some underlying doubts about its real effectivness.

Rather than punishing those who dont vacinate, the Govt should be rewarding the ones who Do vacinate.

Regardles if you are pro or anti vacinations, no-one should be forced to have a medical proceedure done against their will, and fear-mongering the population wont achieve a great deal, but will most certainly cause a public uproar.

I am against making vacination compulsory!

I don't care to waste my time on people that use dodgy past research to back up their claims that vaccination is bad.

I have known enough people who have suffered a lifetime of pain through preventable child hood diseases to know that I would prefer immunisation, even if it is only effective enough to minimise the severity of the disease.

One of my friends from school had polio as a child and I worked with another person who had it.  They'd both give anything to be free of the lingering effects.  I've had a close relative have a stroke caused by chicken pox, know someone who's child was blinded by measles and another who's child died from chicken pox.   So no, I don't need to bother with your dodgy information.  I have done my own research and have had close family detrimentally affected by preventable disease.

So no, I do mean it. I don't care if you chose not to vaccinate but the least you could do is warn others about your choice so they can avoid contact if they choose to.

What is the risk to you and yours, from an unvaccinated child?

Vaccinated children can also pass on the diseases...... as can adults, including those who don't get boosters and no longer have immunity............ do you screen the people you come in contact with?

Door bell rings

Bellringer: I have a parcel for you.

Owner of doorbell: have you been vaccinated?

Bellringer: no not since I was 10yo.

Owner of doorbell: Sorry, I can't come out, leave it on the step or come back 2 weeks after you get the vax booster.
