Peter Cosgrove has been a firm favourite for GG, A very popular choice by PM Abbott. I'm very happy with him, he's always been a great example of what a Australia stands for & has never put a foot wrong. Good on him.
IT has been expected for so long, the decision to make Peter Cosgrove the next governor-general of Australia is almost an anticlimax.
But when Tony Abbott finally makes the formal announcement of the appointment of the popular military figure, he will gain kudos and encouragement for making such a popular choice.

What a bitter reply to an appointmant that this man deserves. A man of the people who has devoted his life to our country & service.
Tony Abbott shows grace & class every day he's in the PMs position, not like the labor trash who brought shame & disgust upon the office of the Prime Minister & spawned a generation of hate filled people.

I've always thought highly of Peter Cosgrove.

It is what it is. Your opinions can't change what has happened.

He'll do well.
He certainly has big shoes to fill - Quentin Bryce has been an outstanding GG. I can't recall anyone else in my living memory who did the job as well as she did. Perhaps Ninian Stephens came close.

I really loved her wardrobe & her deportment. She did a good job but blotted her copybook by her outburst that went against the GG position of her appointment.
She could have acted with the grace Tony Abbott did in not accepting her resignation after Shorten became Opp leader but her personal political beliefs outweighed her duty to her position & the position of GG is ALL about duty which she abrogated.
Other than that she was an OK GG, no better or no worse than others.

IMO William Deane was by far the best before the present office holder, who has not put a foot wrong.

Kerr was best. a fine example of australia's inebriated conservative elite, whether at the races or doubling for Rudolph on kirrabilli's roof during the festive season.
