Photo challenge rules

I know a few of of us have pics on our computers they were taken by spouses or offspring.  Someone else mentioned having siblings photos as well. Then there are professional pics that still belong to us e.g. school photos of our kids etc..

It's hard to know where to draw the line. I have pics taken with my camera by my my hubby and I have to stop and think which one of us took it.

I think if we have a direct link to the the pic it should be allowed to be posted, but I'm not sure about voting on it.

I'm going to offer a few options in the next few posts. Give kudos to the one you agree with the most.

Re: Photo challenge rules

ok, so we stick to the original conditions, pic must be posters own work.

if it's not, juts a little note to say so, and it won't be included in the Winners anouncement. I think kudos are still nice though.

Re: Photo challenge rules

If you post photos just because they are interesting but not take by the poster can we have a strict limit on the number of these photos, please?

Maybe have a special week for portraits so that the family snaps don't feature too heavily in the competition thread? (Sorry but there are only so many photos of strangers childrens that I can ooh and ah over so as not to offend the proud parent/grandparent)

(Iknow everyone is going to attack me over that so I'll head off to bed and hopefully all those posts will be removed before I turn on the computer tomorrow)

Re: Photo challenge rules

Thank you Joz,

but my photo was of the wedding invitation both my husband and I created from photos of our engagement and the Church we got married in.

We both love doing Paint Shop Pro graphics and saved heaps by making our own invitations and place cards.

She-Eles photo was taken by someone else, but 50 years together is worth to show off. I'll never make that milestone myself.

Re: Photo challenge rules

How does sopmething that was supposed to provide fun and enjoyment and a friendly thread for all to enjoy turn into such a huge freakin drama?

Is it really that hard to just have one thread where everyone can just enjoy the spirit of the thing without resorting to petty squabbles, interpersonal disputes, pot shots at others and general attempts to trash a thread?

Pimpy, your idea was totally brilliant from the get go. Such a shame it has to be so darned hard and convoluted. You have the patience of a Saint, but I am so grateful that you have persisted despite those who try to spoil it.

As long as the pics aren't swiped from the web or infringe any itellectual property laws, why does it really matter? As long as the pics have some kind of significance to the contributor, isn't that really what it's all about?

Seriously folks, life is not meant to be this hard. And sometimes folks, it is ok to be happy and to just enjoy stuff, ya know?

the point is we get lots of great pics to look at but I can still pic out the fair winner

or try to, I have failed in the past Smiley Sad

I disagree that you have failed. You have provided a platform for a lot of enjoyment for a lot of people.

Re: Photo challenge rules

I don't see any drama in asking to have a rule clarified. The past challenges were 'posters own work only'. The latest challenge that rule changed and I was not sure what having propiertary rights to a photo meant exactly... ie: for example, if someone has a family member that is a profesional/semi professional photographer should the poster be allowed to post lots of that family members photos (talking generally not about anyone here).

Having choices to vote on is a good way of working out what everyone would prefer.

my*fav -- the thread is specifically a Photo Challenge thread (with a theme, daily, weekly etc), they are quite common on forums, facebook etc. They are for people to post their own work...a challenge

A general post any photo you like thread isn't the same thing.
