Next time I'll just break out my photo album and snap away.
Eat a donut while I'm doing it too.

Thanks for the clarification, Pimpy.
I asked about the photos first. I didn't realize that we could post pictures of pictures. I have some very cool black and white photos of movie stars that my grandma collected. I would have taken some photos of those.
As I said earlier, I've only been here for about 2 months. I'm learning how to use my camera, and all about your home threads.
If the nature of the thread is about treasure hunting, then yes indeed, taking a photo of something we already have would fit the bill.

Thanks sister.

I guess as long as it is your own photo (as it's in your possession) and not one that you just snapped off the net.

Well you could do that, but it takes half the fun out it. The original intention of the Challenge was to challenge people to get out and appreciate this wonderful planet, which is exactly what you have been doing (driving around the countryside) Some people find that difficult. Some weeks the weather is against them, or family issues, or the theme doesn't suit their circumstances. Photos of photos are rarely used except where they really do suit the theme, such as nostalgia or monochrome portraits, or this one, black and white.
Most of us have the advantage of having been in this challenge from the start, so we sort of know what is expected and what the rules are. The most important rule is you must have taken the photo yourself, regardless of the subject. And creepy crawlies go in spoilers. That's it. Simple. We have had discussions about rules from time to time, but in the end the decision was too many rules would be detrimental to the thread. It is just a bit of fun afer all. A thread to share your memories, show off your part of the planet and get inspiration from others to either try something new with their camera, or just get out and look at the world in a new way.
I really don't understand why we still end up with hair pulling and eye gouging every other week

Don't worry about the voting, Artful. It is pretty fair and mostly it is the photos taken by the person and in the theme that win. The funniest, the cleverest and the most beautiful I think.

Sorry Pimpy.
I made a statement about the photos today.
It was my mistake, and I take responsibility for everything that followed.
😞

I was wondering the same thing you were, TCM, about why certain photos were being allowed so don't take sole responsibility for anything. I would've brought it up even if you didn't because I always say what I'm thinking--I can't help myself.
It didn't seem fair but now I know it's allowed. Still doesn't seem kosher to me, but--whatever.
And, by the way, I honestly don't care about the voting. I participated just for the fun of it--like I do in the music challenge thread. I couldn't care less about winning or even coming in fifth place. If I did, I would've dropped out a long time ago.
