Please find another time for Protest

If you're fighting to protect people's lives, why not start by not risking the innocent lives of everyone elses. Find another time. I will have more respect for you. I was just saying the other day: Thank God that Australians aren't as crazy as Americans and we have at least some common sense not to choose this time to protest.

Meanwwile in Western Australia, despite over 7000 people attending a protest rally in Perth last weekend only one new case of Covid 19 has been reported - and that was an historic case from a cruise ship.

No wonder Premier McGowan doesn't want to open our borders.

I just came to a post by my friend who attended the protest and she was very pleased that (so far) only 4 people infected were linked to the march.  Sadly, 4 is actually not very good.  Victoria had about 160 new infections in the past 2 weeks; that is only 0.0025% of the6.3mill people in Victoria, while the 4 out of the 20 000 attending the march is 0.02 %.

Just because there is no way to trace the 4 people who attended the protest in Melbourne to another infected person who was there, does not mean there is no connection, nor it means that they did not infect anybody.  It is perfectly possible that these 4 people were infected elsewhere, but at least 2 were in the infectious period, so they could have infected number of people there, who are not symptomatic, but could be infecting others.  They would not know unless they got tested.  And if they infected somebody at the protest, which is much more likely when you stand close to somebody shouting for several hours, than if you just pass somebody at the crowded mall.  Although, to stand against police brutality and racism is rather more important than anything that people went to the mall for.

The facts are that most of the community infected people here in Victoria have not been determined as to how and where they got infected.  And the stats all depend on people admitting they were at the protest

The protesters are the main suspects because they are the ones who are amassing in large numbers. And they very obviously don't give a damn.

Will wait for facts and figures to be given

That's not really the point.

While some people are cosy and safe out in the sticks, others like me live close to where protests are happening. I know beyond a doubt that people from my suburb attended and they shop at the same centre that I do. Now it's back to very safe distancing, watching people's behaviour etc. The stakes are high again because of irresponsible people who don't care. Of course some people are angry. The problem is the "facts" are unlikely to reveal how and why the spikes really occurred. Irrespective, those people nearby, not afar, have to hold their breath and hope again.

Hmmmm dont think the folk in my town feel "cosy and safe", so please dont make assumptions.  NO ONE in Melb needs to go near a shopping centre, groceries etc can all be bought online  ............... we " in the sticks" dont have that option

While groceries can be bought on-line, they are not sourced from a 'pristine' warehouse.

They are picked and packed from the local supermarket, where the general public may have already handled them, sneezed on them, done whatever to them.

Isolation doesn't keep you safe.

Well go out then and do ya shopping........... Sheeese there is NO pleasing some people

Whinge all ya like, most of the new cases have NOT been linked to the recent protests    ..... Vic  cheif medial officer has stated this but then I guess you know better

What everyone is forgetting is it is not just about how many people directly contracted COVID 19 at the march, it is about the public psychology. Young idiots in the community who may be self absorbed and anti authority see other self absorbed, anti authority idiots marching at the government sanctioned protest and think " well if they can mingle shoulder to shoulder in large crowds with the governments blessing, why cant I " ?

You have a break down in respect for public health directives with other people just doing what they like because " it cant be that important, the government allowed the BLM people to gather en masse."

A disproportionate number of the new COVID cases in Victoria are coming from " the special groups " who believe the rules and guidelines that apply to everyone else, dont apply to them. If the health guidelines are going to actually work, everyone including " the special groups " have to follow them. Otherwise, disrespect for the system creeps in and the whole thing breaks down. ( as we have already seen happen with the second wave )

What needs to looked at is with the protest marches, the one against 5G, what the main benefit of the march would be compared to the catching of Corona. In the opinion of the protesters who were exercising their right to bring to attention the deadly dangers of 5G it was worth it and many more lives would be saved if 5G wasn't put in  their areas. I support their right to do such a thing and I also understand their concerns.

Corona virus is a cause for concern, and there's no doubt in  the worst cases, it can kill. The majority of people will  be able to fight it off. Being bathed in harmful EMF radiation, microwaves etc., the ability of the human body to fight off sickness such as Corona and Influenza etc. is greatly reduced. It has long been known that people who live near mobile phone towers get sick and cancer clusters are usually a feature. People who are heavy users of mobile phones are susceptible to illnesses as well as cancer tumours in the head. So in the bigger picture, protesting was a necessity!
