Brisbane car fire detective taken off the case after suggesting killer Rowan Baxter may have been 'driven too far'
good one police officer, the wife must have forced her ex husband to murder the whole family

The police officer even suggesting such a reason that people might consider the murderer might have killed his family for tells me that he (the police officer) isn't someone I would feel comfortable around now if I was his wife!

On reading - he seems to have just phrased things very wrongly.
"He's distraught because he cannot understand how he said it and how it came out.
"All he wanted to say is that he needs to get evidence before the coroner.
The situation very confronting & difficult for all who had to deal with it.
A totally tragic happening.

i watched an early press conference and thought to myself, this guy shouldnt be speaking 'off the cuff'
the police had very little knowledge of what had happened but was standing in front of a pack of journos feilding quick fire questions.
recipe for disaster

It is shocking Dom, and I can understand that words may come out in an inadvertent and even inappropriate way.
At times like this though, I think that authorities must be extremely careful and think deeply before making public/official statements regarding such horrific crimes.
My heart breaks for the mother and children.

Frankston man allegedly bashed and pepper sprayed by police denies he was aggressive, drunk or on drugs
of course i wasnt there, cant say what happened
but
the police followed him across the street to his mothers house and hit him with torches, battons and mace?
how were they in peril if he had gone across the street?
their actions sound like they made the situation worse, not de-esculated it.
maybe he shouldnt have been getting ready to drive, he admits he had been drinking.
why was he not breath tested or drug tested?
particularly if they are going to use drink or drugs as a defence for attacking him.
surely bringing evidence to the court he was off his head on drink or drugs would have made their case?
the story reeks of 2 young cops out to 'take control' of a situation, possible high on adrenaline.
