I agree, we can't. It's like putting fish in a fishtank, and closing the lid, never adding anything to their environment, Eventually they will breed, use up all their resources and die.
We are in a very big fish tank.

7 billion fleas on the back of the horse is already too much but there are other reasons.
i know that i am not stupid and my muscles are good but the joints and the heart are not. no breeding stock.
most people do not care about such things i discovered. i knew a ms person already in a wheelchair in her 30's who wanted another child!!!
people are selfish, they do not care for their offspring, they only see their own desire to procreate and pass on their genes. they are no better than a dog, cat or pig in their desire as they do not waste a thought about what it really means.
i do not wish to have a child with my joints, it would be cruel yet i look around and no one else seems to care about their offspring enough to consider not to preocreate. they all seem to think that their genes are somewhat divine and need preserving....

maybe it's that people are so full of themselves that they think they are good breeding stock?
maybe an intelligence test to be eligebly to breed would fix that.

lal-au, do you think that diseases such as HIV and ebola maybe be manufactured to control the population?
The Powers that Be must be aware that we cannot continue on this path.

I don't think that diseases such as ebola are created in a lab. The reason being that world travel is so easy these days and it would be hard to contain the disease in one area.
Maybe more research needs to be done on how to eradicate diseases rather than how to create a better fighter plane or submarine.

About 30 years ago population control was tried in India. Health workers/educators distributed condoms and demonstrated their use by pinching the end on the condom and rolling it down over two fingers.
After some time went by the birth rate showed no significant decline. The healthworkers went back in to the field and asked the men if they were using the condoms the way they had been taught. The men assured them they were putting the condoms on their fingers before intercourse, just as they had been shown.
