That comment is surely worth 10 laughy faces 🙂

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Then again, what would I know - heaps. I just didn't think you make spelling mistakes usually.

Did you watch the video clip icy?

I watched what was available yesterday. It was just a grab, I would have liked to see more. All channels were playing the same one.

I just did, I think the police were a bit rough and over reacted with the spray.. Especially spraying a blind female with a white cane!

You don't think the students were rough though? My understanding is they were denied entry but pushed forward undeterred against police direction.

Why didn't Pyne's staff or who ever ran the event he was speaking at organise some bouncers/police persons on the outside doors earlier? Prevent entry - no scuffle then.

What makes you think it's his job to do that?

OK, it seems the attendees had to register for the lecture............................... perhaps the demonstrators should have done that instead of trying to enter.

No excuse for the police to pepper spray them though, if they were not assaulting anyone. Doors have locks.

Why police? It's not their job to guard lectures like this , is it?

Surely you are not serious am3.

The rioters took no notice of uniformed police so do you REALLY expect that a civil person or 2 would have had a chance??

Logic, lady, logic

I did put  /police persons.. meaning who ever would be the better option, security staff get hired to prevent entry to establishments... and I never said only one or two persons on the door.....

No but it's their job to maintain law and order against those that create civil disobedience and public disorder.

There are two options there in my post. I haven't had to protect myself from protestors so I don't know the protocol!

When Julie B got 'bumped slightly' by Uni students last year, Pyne was alone on the outrage bus claiming attacks on her, then shortly after that PM and/or Pyne were due to attend a Uni and police recommended he/they cancelled the visit, which they did.

So, if you are a pollie and you know some angry protesters are likely to show up at an event you are speaking at.. then some sort of pre-arrangements should be made for crowd control with the police.

There is always going to be protesting Uni students anywhere Pyne is speaking at.

Be thankful for pepper spray.

In some countries 128 grains of Cu coated Pb subcutaineously implanted is a very effective means of crowd control at up to 50 meters.

Badly handled, that event. Will see what comes of it, the police were asking for eye witnesses to contact them.

It's not the speakers responsibility to organise security for an event he's been invited to speak at.
