Pub Test: Would you allow your OH to donate sperm...

...the old fashioned way if your best friend needed her eggs fertilised?

No turkey baster. No clinics.

This was the topic of discussion amongst a group of friends earlier in the night. One in our group is a lesbian longing for a child with her partner. Surprisingly, quite a few women offered to loan out their husbands.

Would you?

This site, which also offers a DIY kit, gives a 30% success rate which is still good in my opinion given that, apart from lesbians whose fertility may be untested, the group of people wanting to know more about the procedure are there because they have been having fertility issues.

Ever met a lesbian who got pregnant with a turkey baster? It's a bit of a myth.

Yes I have.  Not with  a  turkey baster but you will see I had put it in inverted commas.

"Turkey Baster"-  is that a medically correct term?

No it isn't Bob. It's the metaphor for a **bleep** filled syringe.

I have a male gay friend who wanted kids.  He went into it very carefully and met a lesbian couple thru mutual friends who wanted the same thing.  They openly discussed all their issues over a period of months and came to an agreement.

He did the deed into a specimen jar, she used a syringe inserted by her partner and voila!  Got ti first go.  Ruby is about to turn 14.  3 years later they did the same procedure, took a couple of goes but success again, with a boy this time.

The lesbian couple have since split but now the family all live together and the mum and dad share custody.  They have their own lives but live altogether in a big house. they recently went on holiday together and look like a very happy and well adjusted family.

In the early years, the father went part time in his job so that he could spend a lot of time with the kids and to ease the child care issues of the mum who also worked full time.  So their parenting was more even and shared than most hetero couples and the kids are thriving.

Whatever works for the kids is fine by me.

But, not with my hubby's junk.  Not via a baster or syringe or the old fashioned method.  Your friend could look into her own circle of friends or use a donor.  There was a lesbian couple in my mothers group who used a donor with no issues....

As a naturally lazy person I think it is a good idea so where do I sign him up, he is available 7 days per month for 11 months of the year and that will free me up to watch more TV and in the 12th month I shall do my duty on Christmas day. Sounds perfect to me.
