Putting on Weight

The grandson who has moved back with me has been under great stress lately and has lost a lot of weight.  I am trying to work out what to feed him so he will put some weight back on.

Anyone have any suggestions ??

Re: Putting on Weight

His favorites. So that he will eat it all.

- so anything rich and creamy, but be balanced with fruit and vegies too, so he stays healthier while putting a bit of weight on.

Lasagna, pizza, icecream for dessert, homemade burgers...

Pasta with creamy sauces...

large steaks with potatoes, as chips or roasted...

really, what might suit his tastebuds 🙂

Re: Putting on Weight

In the short term you could get some sustagen or some Up and Go.

They seem to like the up and go, but its quite expensive I think.

And bread and desserts with every meal if he has the appetite.

I suggest you eat together - simply what you are used to eating.

Going to extremes usually has the opposite effect - too much weight - then the opposite problem.

A good balanced diet - daily.

Beautiful at the moment - go for a walk together - work up an appetite & eat well.

Forgot to mention - under these circumstances - hugs can add to weight.

Ok - not a good place to be.

How old is he - this I think is important.

My apologies - old enough to be in old money - how tall - seems tall - weight - heavens that is underweight.

I am about 5'11, weigh around 60 kilos - at least got half of it ( used to be stones ) but a female.

Re: Putting on Weight

He is turning 23 next week.  He is just over the 6 foot. He was just of 60 kilo before he started to loos the weight.  I am hoping that he can get to about 62 or 64 kilos.

Re: Putting on Weight

That's 6'1 in old money, Helen.

He must be skin and bones, grandmoon.     Just keep feeding him.

If he can cut down the smokes - they do suppress the appetite.

If you've got him long enough, I'm sure you'll feed him up

And get him off the energy drinks if you can.

They are bad news.

That is a huge weight loss for him.

Thank you Stawka.

He seems to be where he should be.

Sounds like a bit of TLC - + a good diet & grandmom has him covered.

God I hate it when help is so difficult - those that need help really can only do it for themselves.

We just have to be there for them.

How tall are you Stawka & don't fib.
