A TREE has fallen on a family in Brisbane's north.
Witnesses say the family was standing on the banks of Kedron Brook at Gordon Park when the large tree suddenly fell, trapping them.
"The ground's just so wet a large tree's just fallen on them," Tim Bourke told the ABC.
"They got a little boy out but the mother's still trapped in there."
Emergency crews are working to free the woman while the child has been taken to hospital.

Awful - but why would you venture outside in those conditions, and on a riverbank??? The mind boggles. I wasn't game to venture out of my front door

Yes, I agree, seems so silly?

Also in Coffs Harbour ... waiting ... waiting ... waiting.
It's very wet here ... no way are we going out today ... the ground is soaking ... huge puddles in the grass ... my balcony carpet is wet. Even the birds are wet. I've never seen rainbow lorikeets so damp they look about 2 inches smaller. (Like how a cat looks after a wash). The road is wet and there was nearly an accident earlier outside my unit.
Hi Jean, this is so dismal isn't it? Are you in the flood zone? I checked yesterday and we are just outside it.

Hi Katy, how is your shop faring? Our street usually gets flooded as we have a creek that always bursts its banks. Fortunately we are at the highest point so only get it up the driveway. Poor neighbours across the street exchanged contracts on their house on Friday and it is in a bad way. I wonder if the buyers knew about the problem. We are enjoying one positive though, we are built on clay and with the dry weather it had contracted and all doors were jamming. With the rain all the doors are now free. Gotta win somewhere!

Hi Jean, the shop's closed now. The weather appears to be calming down at the moment ... not sure if it's passed over or if this is the calm before the storm. I'm freezing cold ... but as I watch the news, I realise how lucky I am ... and I hope and hope and hope that Brisbane will escape more flooding ... I just saw that people in "low lying areas" have been told to evacuate.
Again, on the bright side, my balcony is getting a good rinse 🙂

Little Crikey's are all home safe.
OH has been out with the SES since 1am though and still not home. A few minor injuries - but nothing serious - a few houses have lost rooves etc - one house has partially collapsed - Church hall is chokkers and locals with genny's being asked to take in families with no power etc
Power outages everywhere.
The community have already started organizing working bees to get stuff cleaned up and the roads cleared.

Crikey, glad your little ones are OK. People like your OH really are the backbone of this country.
