as a cat lover/owner (or owned by)

i see no reason for anyones cat to be out wandering freely.

my neighbours didnt decide to have a cat so why would they want mine in their place?

i see it as, you want a cat in your life, fine,

but keep it in YOUR life.

as in keep it inside your house or if you want it to have access to outside build a big cat house.

rosie has lived her entire life inside

she is happy and healthy.

and i dont worry some nasty cat hater will get her and hurt her.

you just have to put in the effort, cleaning litter trays once a day.

My cat is ex-RSPCA and was surrendered after she was attacked by her previous owner's dog.  Not surprisingly, she is afraid of dogs so she was always going to be an indoor cat (like previous cats I had owned actually).

She is happy indoors - especially when she sees a dog outside.  She bristles up and hurls abuse at the canine - from safely behind a large window!  It's hilarious to watch but she takes her guarding duties very seriously.

She is also the first cat I've owned to have an outside run - it's small and is more a series of platforms going up to a hammock just below the house roof line, rather than an area to actually run.  She loves it.  It leaves me with some regrets that I couldn't afford it for my earlier cats.

Cats in my childhood commonly ended their lives under a car, whether they lived to a good age or not.  That isn't going to happen to this cat!

As for councils, my cat is microchipped and desexed and never leaves the house.  I'd love to tell my local council to stick their $55 a year cat registration where the sun doesn't shine.  It really is giving them money for nothing.

I don't agree with Brian May's  comments.

  I think it is a great idea. maybe he hasn't experienced cats fighting  in your front yard at some unearlthy hour , or having your neighbours cat doing their business in your garden. ect, ect.  We have cats but they stay in their own yard and don't wander. good on the council for wanting to take a tougher stand on this , i am hoping a lot of other councils follow suit. 

  While i am at it, stawka who made you boss of CS. ?  what does it matter if there is more than one thread on the one subject, it doesn't bother me any, and i am sure it probably doesn't bother a lot of others .  you really need to chill out your post was quite rude.

stawka,  believe me i wouldn't want to be . clearly you are not the boss of anyone either , telling people that they basically can't have more than 1 thread on the same topic. it isn't any of your business  no one asked you to comment if you don't like it just scroll past it really, it  is that easy.  plus i honestly think  your care factor is  more than zero.
