It takes something round, a computer, and me to make pie.I am bigger than anything you can think of.

I know.  That is a little freaky. The 3.14 is pie, mirrored that is.

Where does the word Pi come from? Or rather I should say, it's a greek letter but who decided to use it for this mathematical scenario?

Apparently adopted by William Jones in 1707. 

I don't think there were any correlations back then with the mirrored 3.14.

It's only the modern world that has seen a coincidence, possibly out of boredom.

Definitely was in terms of using the mathematical equations and theories -

Before the 15th century mathematicians such as Archimedes and Liu Hui used geometrical techniques, based on polygons, to estimate the value of π.

Another little oddity - 

Pi = 3.14159... Pi starts with 3_4_5 which is the Pythagorean Triplet, the smallest possible triplet that represents the Pythagorean triangle. Remember from high school the Pythagorean Theorem, if two sides of a right triangle are 3 and 4 respectfully then the hypotenuse will be 5.
