Question For The Computer Savvies

Bought a little Netbook off Dodo for a good price (or so I thought at the time)

It has a cpl of problems:

A. battery is docked and locked but can still only use it if it's connected to the power source.

Says "100%  power but not charging."

B. on the QWERTY bar, the U, I, O, P Keys also double for 4,5,6, and asterisk in square brackets. Same goes for J, K, L on the next row.

Where I try to use the Alpha keys I always get the numerical. For instance, where I type Friday, it comes out as Fr5day.

Is there a toggle I should be using?

Re: Question For The Computer Savvies

Yeah, the blue function key and num lock should fix the numeric keys while typing.

The service centre should fix the battery issue.

Am, you have numbers on your   U I O P and J K L  just like icy mentioned on hers.

What do they do - I've never seen that before

You can turn those keys into numeric keyboard funtion.

Do you think the battery is just stuffed because it is 4 years old? Even though it hasn't been used?

My netbook (2011) has got a 6cell battery.. still lasts a reasonable amount of time.. it wasn't a cheap netbook though.

No, as Pimpy said, the Fn key should fix that but the battery needs service call, they might just accept the battery for return..

The Fn key with the numlock will turn off the numeric keypad.

Re: Question For The Computer Savvies

Apparently the fn key with F11 toggles the number lock as well

What a wonderful educational thread    grin.gif

I printed off the manual. Will try the Fn key with the numerics when I get home tonight.

After that I'll have to Call Dodo re the battery

try fn + F11

or fn + numlock if your keyboard has them

Those fn keys causing trouble again?

I C&Ped the question into google and it came with pendo...aka, cheap garbage. When it comes to electronics the saying, you get what you pay for, is true.

It's not a Pendo

Have you tried that? You seem to be ignoring the useful advice.
