Richie Benaud quote:
"My mantra is: Put your brain into gear and if you can add to what's on the screen then do it, otherwise shut up."
As a friend of his family long ago, I have a little tear welling up. Remember John Benaud driving Richie's Sunbeam around Parramatta while Richie was away in England. There is the Richie Benaud Oval in Parramatta close to where his parents lived.
RIP Richie.

The BBC have just paid tribute to him on the news. They said his voice was known as 'The Soundtrack of the British Summer'. British Summer ? Well that's a laugh for a start.
They played a clip from his last day of commentary, the day he retired. No fanfare of trumpets, just a very low-key, "Time to leave now, and thank you for having me". "It's been wonderful".
Not a cricket fan, but R.I.P. sir.
