Radio host Ben Fordham's claims Ms Gillard was being investigated by police

2GB host Ben Fordham told his listeners today he wanted to correct comments made by Ms Gillard during an interview in March that canvassed the AWU case.

Fordham said the police were still taking statements and had asked him to make a formal statement relating to the March 7 interview.

Courier mail today.

:^O really? would police really do that?

FN & LL, apropos Ettridge and legal process. I would sugget that some research  is in order, because both the AEC, and the The Crime & Misconduct Commission of Queensland (CMC) conducted an inquiry into "The Prosecution of Pauline Hansen & David Ettridge". The findings of the AEC have been mentioned above, and those of the far more important CMC are herein below:-

"The CMC has investigative powers, not ordinarily available to the police service, for the purposes of enabling the commission to effectively investigate particular cases of major crime. The CMC also has the power to investigate cases of misconduct in the Queensland public sector, particularly the more serious cases of misconduct."

The Crime & Misconduct Commission of Queensland conducted an inquiry into "The Prosecution of Pauline Hansen & David Ettridge"
Conclusions
"The Commission is of the opinion that no misconduct or other impropriety has been shown to have been associated with the conduct of the litigation concerning Ms Hanson and Mr Ettridge, or with the police investigations leading to the prosecution.
The Commission also found no evidence of political pressure or other improper influence or impropriety........the involvement of Tony Abbott in events leading up to the institution of proceedings to deregister the party did not produce or constitute a failure of due process."

".....In conclusion, the Commission has not found evidence that Mr Abbottโ€™s involvement
in the case extended beyond what is already on the public record and was disclosed to the Australian Electoral Commission in 1998. His involvement in the matter ceased prior to the decision by Judge Atkinson to have Pauline Hansonโ€™s One Nation deregistered and approximately three yearsโ€™ before any criminal charges were instituted against Ms Hanson and Mr Ettridge."

I suggest FN & LL you peruse the reported CMC case here:-
http://www.cmc.qld.gov.au/research-and-publications/publications/misconduct/the-prosecution-of-pauline-hanson-and-david-ettridge-a-report-on-an-inquiry-into-issues-raised-in-a-resolution-of-parliament.pdf/view

LL: "the AEC commission has limited powers. they do not adjudicate on criminal matters such as the case against Mr Abbott."
True, but THE CMC are not so legally restrained (PS the Ettridge "case" against Abbott is a civil matter!!)

Ettridge is not shy when it comes to allegations:-
CMC exerpt: He (Ettridge) complained of a number of illegalities and allegedly incompetent or improper actions on the part of Mr Abbott, Mr Sharples, judges and a magistrate.

well how come she made it sound like it was 'new' money Cat.   devious little ship.

The Gillard Labor Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the Bruce Highway, today releasing a ten-year, $4.1 billion capital works program which will further improve safety, cut travel times, ease congestion and improve the road's flood immunity.

The package of works will also lower transport costs and boost national productivity.

We are determined to continue the work we began five years ago on building a Bruce Highway which supports Queensland's growth and development, with this latest announcement taking our total commitment to this vital economic lifeline to $5.7 billion.

Depends how you hear it I guess, or who is delivering the news.

Its easy to make a commitment to build the new highway over the next 10 years BUT saying and doing are 2 completely different things. 4.1b over 10 years, this government wont even be here in 10 months so where does this promise go ? into cyber space like so many other broken assurances.

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)

We have had many of  you on here  telling us Abbott will win the next election.  Will you be back here complaining when he pulls the promised funding to prop up his wealthy mates interests?

Absolutely and I would complain like hell but how do you know he will do what you suggested ? is this just wishful thinking on your part, do you have a crystal ball or are you just surmising this will happen ?

We need facts not suppositions, best to leave those sorts of remarks to LL he is best at doing that.

Why do you expect Gillard to stop work because it's an election year?

Would you rather they stopped work until the next time they're in office or something?

How much did the previous Govt put into the highway? Or did they too do nothing and wait for the next lot. Nothing would ever get done.

Compared to the former Howard Government's record of $1.3 billion, we have committed more than four times as much over a similar period of time, and right now hundreds of workers are onsite upgrading 90 kilometres of the Highway.

Attached is a list of some of the major projects which will proceed as a result of our funding boost.

We have always said it would take time to put right more than a decade of neglect.

Accordingly, we have moved today to provide long term funding certainty for the Bruce Highway, including details of the next round of targeted improvements to be delivered in partnership with the Queensland Government on a timetable that will now be negotiated with them.

Gee they're good aren't they.... announcement today and 90ks of work already happening, all on the same day. How did she manage that?

Maybe the 90ks was already in progress and this announcement is for the next stage.

Sounds more rational to me.

Why did you say I expect JG to stop work because its an election year, did I say that NO so please stop suggesting I say things that I don't.

I would imagine the next gov will continue on with the work because it is badly needed and I did not suggest the labor gov wait until it is next in government to restart the work and agree if that was the case nothing would get done.

So please read what I write NOT what you think I write, thanx

saying and doing are two different things.... so are you saying she is saying or she is doing?

Seems to me that you will sling off about Gillard whether she says or does.

If she is doing rather than saying what is there to complain about?

If she is saying rather than doing then where did the 90 ks come from?

So just what did you mean then?

You quoted that

According to your post the PM is saying she has committed 4.1b to upgrading the Bruce highway over the next 10 years, correct ?

it was begun 5 years ago, take your word for it because I don't know.

If for some reason JG and the labor party are successful at the next election WILL she keep that promise or suddenly change tac and say "Oh we have to make cuts so that upgrading will be cut back to a lesser amount because blah blah blah

The reason I ask is because they have a great track record for promising to get elected and when elected not delivering. I am not comparing parties I am stating facts so please don't come back with ahh but TA did blah blah blah, I know the libs are not perfect but the blatant lies that this gov has told is reprehensible.

What blatant lies?

How are they any worse than those that have gone before?

How can they have a great track record for promising then not delivering? This is only their second term. They have delivered on many of the promises. They have to negotiate on others, just like any other time.

Just what is it that makes people single this government out and single Gillard out as being the worst PM of all time?

I don't get it. The country is not a bank which needs an ever increasing profit. We have new cancer treatment centres already delivered or under construction, pensioners got a significant increase in payments, Schools got facilities that many had been in need of for years, and new funding arrangements for schools with increases to assist in improving our standards which have declined over the past 15 years..... We also have 3x AAA credit ratings for the first time ever.

What is the problem?
