Ramadan has been underway for a few days, and not knowing too much about it, I did a bit of research.
It was interesting to see that the UK PM sent out best wishes to Muslim communities:

A few facts here:

I found it interesting that non-Muslims take part as well:
Non-Muslims are free to participate in Ramadam. Many non-Muslims fast and even pray with their Muslim friends or family members. Non-Muslims are often invited to attend prayer and iftar dinners.
Those wishing to be polite to someone who is fasting for Ramadan may greet them with Ramadan Mubarak or Ramadan Kareem, which mean Have a Blessed or Generous Ramadan.
Anyway, play nicely everyone, and Ramadan Kareem !

Oh yeah, the after feast is something else.
If a friend invites you go join in.

I think all the obese western society should observe Ramadan.

it would be a great thing if more people educated themselves about the customs of other cultures. understanding breeds acceptance imo.

You went from accusing me of intolerence to something else. Changed your mind I see.

I think education is fine and to be encouraged but in some cases it is not acceptance which is learned, it is the opposite; and that result is precisely because of what is learned.
Know thine enemy. 😉

I am not interested in learning anything at all about any religion or any other form of fantasy.

It is not so much about learning a religion as understanding customs. Just like when I invited my muslim friend to spend Christmas with us, and it did not mean that I expected her to study the bible. Or just as I, as an atheist, have attended midnight mass because I like the music.

Unfortunately I've developed a low tolerance for religion and feel like I'm allergic to it.
