Because we started discussing this on the Caturday thread.
A friend at work recently gave me a stack of Karin Slaughter books. I was a bit suss about them, because I wasn't sure if I'd like them. I thought they might be "chick lit", but so far I really like this first one I've started on.
I've started with Blindsighted thinking it was her first one, but there seems to be some previous material hinted at in this book. Does anyone know the sequence? Does it matter?
Like in the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child? You can pretty much pick up any book and the past history will be revealed in part in all his books.
Love Jack Reacher

Donna Leone, anything about Venice gets my vote and she has written a whole raft of stories.
When I read them I can close my eyes and see myself again walking the back calles of that amazing city.

I've seen her on the bookshelves. It's sign of a good writer when you can insert yourself into their landscape.

Especially preventative medical, health n nutrition related.
I've read a few nutrition books, mainly when I was giving up smoking, not wanting to put on too much weight.
I still loosely follow the reccommendations in "Fit For Life" by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond.

It's kind of like sci-fi, where actual events undergo a subtle change, or sometimes, not so subtle.
In Turtledove's "Guns of the South", Afrikaaners from the present time go back in time to re-equip the Confederacy with AK-47's in an effort to have them win the Civil War, so that slavery will continue.
