To be fair, there're are many ignorant people out there about many different topics. I'm ignorant about how to make puff pastry.

Even non-religious people don't understand evolution. But I have an issue when people choose to be ignorant because it goes against their special book. Why don't they argue against the theory of gravity, we are less certain about  that than evolution.

I have a rough idea of why the sky is blue. Not entirely sure why water is wet. I would just say, God made it that way. Much easier.

I agree, it's astounding that some people think that man walked with dinosaurs 6,000 years ago. We all know dinosaurs have been gone for millions of years, don't we. And we certainly know for a fact that evolution happens / happened, animals and plants have been evolving for many millions of years since their initial creation - as I have explained to you all MANY times - but maybe it's because I am such a moron that I haven't been able to explain it to you properly.

The part I do have a problem with is abiogenesis and BIG BANGS.

Now Bob! You can congratulate yourselves all you like, pat yourselves on the back and talk about how intelligent you all are and how stupid we believers are, but what about answering my question in the evolution thread? Would you be so kind as to do that for me because poor idiotic me just can't work it out - probably because I have been living in the dark so long and eating too much mushroom food, but it may also be possible that I haven't quite evolved as much as all you intelligent people. Either way, can you please have mercy on this poor fool and explain to me - answer my question.

We still don't know the origin of abiogenesis and big bang. I say I don't know.

I'm glad you finally accept the evidence of evolution. If you think the bible got it wrong in evolution, and therefore Adam and Eve myth, the young Earth. What makes you think it got Genesis correct?

I don't know where God came from. I say I don't know. So that makes us even.

I'm glad you finally accept the evidence of evolution.

What's this 'finally accepted' business - I haven't changed my beliefs - I always believed in adaption to environment - I have said it probably HUNDREDS OF TIMES on these very boards over some 5 or 6 years - it's just that it's the first time you have chosen to read it.

If you think the bible got it wrong in evolution, and therefore Adam and Eve myth, the young Earth. What makes you think it got Genesis correct?

The Bible didn't get it wrong in evolution - you are putting words in my mouth.

I have never believed in the young earth - why do you keep harping on about those things? If you want to debunk my beliefs - debunk MY BELIEFS not the beliefs that you assume I have.

Anyway, it's pretty pointless trying to keep up with 2 separate threads about the same subject, so I'll limit myself to one - the evolution thread. That will leave this thread for all of you super intelligent ones to congratulate each other on how superior you all are and allow you to talk about how stupid we believers are.

Re: Reading the "evolution" thread I realised that

I guess all those three questions depend on species and geographical location. But from a human perspective water is merely a compound of gases (in liquid state like oxygen in our system) and most of the water is up there in the sky along with all the other gases and particles which is why the sky is blue as blue light simply gets scattered and bounced in all directions through that atmosphere. The sun will rise in Australia tomorrow in the depth icy chills above and below it may not rise or set for months on end

Initially you have to define what "wet' "blue" and "tomorrow" are before any meaningful debate can take place.

Care to define those properties for us?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: Reading the "evolution" thread I realised that

Rabbit, one only has to look at the human spine and consider the problems we nearly all develop with our backs as we get older to come to the conclusion that man was not "designed" to be bipedal. If evolution is about adaptation it is also about compromise and a less than optima spine is the price humankind has paid for the advantages of walking on two legs.

In the end though, as far as you or I or any other private individual is  concerned, does it really matter? Clearly, your faith has been a great comfort and support to you at times when you really needed it and is a major part of what makes you who you are. If you are right then yur belief will be justified on the day of judgement, and if you are wrong, then you will never know about it. So live your life according to your own lights and don't worry about others.
