Refugees in Germany

do the refugees in Germany not realise that they are playing with fire , by aggressively flooding Germany's boarders and acting up once there , do they not realise that they are playing into the hands of the Neo nazi's, do they not remember history , ifear for the world if the average German be comes disenfranchised and angry as the nazi movement is long way from dead. History has shown and continues to show that what has been before can be again

Asylum seekers irrespective of their mode of arrival, like others that arrive in Australia without a valid visa, are classified by Australian law to be ‘unlawful non-citizens’. However, the term ‘unlawful’ does not mean that asylum seekers have committed a criminal offence.

There is no offence under Australian law that criminalises the act of arriving in Australia or the seeking of asylum without a valid visa.[9]

The confusion about legal status arises from those arriving by boat doing so without a valid visa or any other appropriate authorisation, compared to those who arrive by air with a valid visa and then go on to lodge asylum claims.

Any unauthorised arrivals (including any who arrive unauthorised by air) are subject to Australia’s mandatory immigration detention policy introduced by the Keating Government in 1992. Under this policy it is a requirement that ‘unlawful non-citizens’ be detained unless they have been granted temporary legal status by way of a bridging visa while their immigration status is determine

The term ‘illegal’ may more appropriately apply to those without a valid visa (‘unlawful non-citizens’) who are not seeking protection, but remain in Australia unlawfully, such as visa overstayers.[14]

As at 30 June 2013, it was estimated that there were about 62,700 visa overstayers present in Australia.

Globally, the IOM points out that ‘the overwhelming majority of migration is fully authorized’ and estimates that only about 10 to 15 per cent of the world’s international migrants are irregular, most of whom are visa overstayers, not asylum seekers.

Whos talking about Australia?

["Who's blue cat wdancing wrote" might be my next name change} You were the one who brought up migrants in Australia. The topic had earlier switched from Germany to Australia and will no doubt revert back to Germany. Both countries have asylum seeker issues so both have a subject in common. Sigh

Australia does not have an  illegal immigration  problem, why??? because a conservative govt took back  control of our borders.

Australia still has nearly 50 thousand illegal  immigrants in detention and in the community who have to  be assessed  because they tore up their  ID purely so they could spout the lies the smugglers taught them.

Immigrant advocates are working to overcome the laws of Australia, why? because they believe in open  borders.

Our location  is the main reason why we get so few asylum seekers. We haven't lost control of our borders since Darwin was bombed during WWII, even then, we didn't really lose control but our borders were breached.  All the people smugglers care about is money and what is in their own best interests - they are definitely not humanitarians. Who are these 50 thousand illegal immigrants in our detention centres and community?

Where on earth do you get your information from? lol. freaking hilarious.

What are they charged with, Julia?

that depends, doesnt it?

there was this case:

http://www.news.com.au/national/asylum-seeker-boat-turned-back-to-sri-lanka-37-arrested-one-to-be-pr...

interesting story in your link julia- it says that 37 ( of which 6 were children) were being held in custody, but will be taken before a magistrate shortly.”

I wonder what happened to them? Sri Lanka does not have a good human rights record as I recall

Mr Morrison rejected a United Nations report claiming Australia was acting in defiance of its international obligations.

Asked whether he had concerns for the safety of the 37 passengers returned to Sri Lanka, Mr Morrison said: “No I don’t. The screening process we have adopted, which was the same adopted by the previous government, ensures we have acquitted our obligations, as we must.

The returns were the first since July when a boat loaded with 41 nationals was intercepted by Australia. Sri Lanka charged them with illegally leaving the country, and their cases are due to be taken up by a court next May.

Australia has gifted two vessels to Sri Lanka’s navy to patrol its shores and stop boats leaving the island, as part of Canberra’s hard line border protection policy.

we do have a large number of  illegal migrants ( mostly overstayed visas)

but they are not in detention  Woman LOL

China, Malaysia and the US and the UK are largest visa 'over-stayers' here

it's actually quite a different scenario to the one you're portraying here
