Hi all,
Previous owners of my house had pets that urinated all over unsealed floor boards in my bedroom (yuck!) I managed to get rid of most of the smell except when its damp it all comes back. Now my cat has taken to urinating on the carpet which has soaked through to the floor boards. Short of ripping them up which is becoming more and more tempting, does anyone have ideas on what I could try?
So far I have tried bleach, washing powder, bicarb and vinegar, using citronella after to stop puss going back there but its to no avail. It stinks. I am considering ripping up the carpet completely and painting the boards with enamel then placing more flooring on top (rug). The only other option is Urine off but going by the reviews its not always successful and a lot to fork out to find out it won't work.
Any ideas are appreciated 🙂

So sorry excuse the spelling in the last message. Have just scrubbed and scrubbed, hoping for some success otherwise I may yet rip up the boards.

Sometimes when my cat is displeased with me she will pee on my bedroom furniture and carpet.
On cat*mioux's advice I mix up a paste of pink napisan and put on the carpet and leave it to dry.
I vaccuum then I spray the carpet with a solution of 'Odaban'
Cat*mioux had problems with floorboards and she successfully removed the smell with Odaban.

Had much success bella?
You might have to wait a day or two allowing boards to dry out a bit .....before doing the 'sniff' test, hey?

Well my back is killing me from scrubbing on my hands and knees. Physio won't be happy when I see him this week lol But yeah boards are still drying. I should have some idea tomorrow. OH will try sanding them back when they are dry, then we will seal and decide what to do after that.
If its a failure I'll try the stuff Pimpy mentioned other than that a new floor but hopefully we don't have to do anything that drastic! Thanks for asking Paints and thanks heaps for your advice on the thread.

Bet you're glad it's only one room

If you are planning to put cement sheeting and tile the room, why don't you just rip up the floorboards? I'm a little confused

I did 🙂
One of my cat's peed on the wooden floorboards every day for 18 months. I tried everything from products to drugs.
Finally I discovered Odaban. Other products get rid of the smell for a day, a week but the smell always comes back. Odaban got rid of it completely. I soaked a diluted mixture on the floorboards overnight then gave them a good rinsing over and over a few times.
For a spraying kitty - I've just fixed a spraying problem caused by one of my cats becoming offended by a neighbours cat hanging around in our garden. I bought Feliway plug in, covered the bottom of the windows with cardboard and taped foil to the wall where kitty was spraying. and soaked the walls with Odaban. It took a week to solve.
If you use bleach the cat will keep wanting to spray the area. Cats are attracted to bleach.

"but heres the thing I found a pile of used air gun pellets in the corner."
Obviously the husband was shooting at the cat.
