I have a length of shop vacuum hose in the garage.......simply fire up the motor, plug one end onto the tail pipe, and blow exhaust to clear the windshield.
I know someone is going to ask, "Why not keep the ride in the garage?"
The war department's SAAB takes up one side, tool and photo stuff take up the other.

Sheets of newspaper put on the windscreen the night before will prevent this happening.

Unless the frost becomes ice.........then you have frozen sheets of newspaper on your windshield/

Frosts. Fog so thick, it is opaque white. Dreamy mists distorting distance. Heavy rain. Gale force winds.
experienced all these weather conditions in the past two weeks

like I said in another thread a few days ago....I am waiting for it to start snowing in Bunbury WA. Seriously! It's been down to 0.1 degrees overnight, within the last week. Thick fog in mornings often. Heavy rain storms every few days.Going on past records it is not the coldest on record but.....mighty chilleeeeee *BBRRRRRrrrr!

From many years experience of early Canberra mornings, I would agree with most of the other posters.
Start the engine, get the heater onto it, start the wipers, then pour slightly warm (we'll get to the reason for that in a moment*), but certainly not hot, water on. Keep the wipers going until it all clears.
(* be mindful of where you are standing when you pour on the water. Nothing worse than having it flicked back all over you and your nice clean and dry work clothes. That's the reason for not using completely cold water)
Remember to do the side and rear windows too.
Consider where you park the night before. If you can't get under shelter (even a carport) try under a tree or something, that will help. I know some people who use those nylon car covers.
Also, try to park where the sun will hit your car the moment it starts to rise, that makes a huge difference.
I'm so glad I don't have to worry about those things these days
