Restaurants should be CHEF trained before opening

I took the wife out tonight to Carlton and was disgusted at the meals we were served. The pizza dough was flavourless and hard, the sauce was out of a can and the cannelloni microwaved semi-cold. Again no flavour. The biggest rubbish we've ever had. We had a few mouthfuls but yuck... We paid and left. I told the waitress she should eat the rest!

On the way home we went to McDonalds drive-thru and got 2 fillet-o-fish meals which was at least 200% better than the pizza restaurant.

I can't believe people are opening up restaurants and serving microwaved rubbish to customers they should be ashamed of themselves. How hard is it to make some pizza and pasta the proper old fashioned way?  We will not be fooled again.

There should be a hall of shame for what happened tonight.

Very disappointing! Has this happened to you?

We've learned our lesson now. We assumed because it's in Carlton it must be good. Yeah right!

UFO, I think your experience has more to do with Carlton and Italian food, than anything else. I have never ever had a good Italian meal, although I must admit I don't like that country's food to start with (too greasy, too saucy, too *blerk*)

As for other restaurants, they have gone downhill in the last twenty years. In the 80's going out to a restaurant or even a cafe was a treat - you expected good service and got it - and the food was delicious - much nicer than you could make at home.

Today, the food is bland, particularly in cafes; it makes sense considering people who prepare meals today have no experience in food preparation nor skills. In the "old" days - chefs with a degree would be preparing your sandwiches. Today, it's uni students who don't give a **bleep**.

But what scares me off restaurants most, is what waiters and chefs do to your food if they don't like you. I won't disgust you with the gory details - but whatever you do NEVER send your food back, asking for changes. I know people in the restaurant industry: whatever you do NEVER send your food back.

I would have done what you did UFO, only I wouldn't have paid. This has happened to me five times, and although the owners aren't pleased, what can they do? I have to say though, the fillet-o-fish at Macdonalds is *blerk* as well - but anything is better than Italian ๐Ÿ™‚

We only went there because our most fav place closes at 4pm on a Tuesday and thought we will give Carlton a go. If you want something special, I mean, cooked by a chef with lots of love and attention you can't go past http://www.twobeansandafarm.com.au/

Their opening hours are: Monday to Thursday 9am - 4pm, Friday & Saturday 9am - 10pm, Sunday 9am - 4pm

I can vouch for this one 100%!

We have eaten there heaps times. The food is always perfect!
