Another brainless boofhead leading the union movement. Its a bit sad really as things are tough in the labour market and getting worse with exploitation of workers becoming more of a problem.. Now is one of the times when unions have an important role to play in society, but they seem to continue to promote morons like this guy to leadership positions.

Maybe thats why union membership is consistently falling away to abismal levels. The unions desperately need to change and modernise to meet modern work standards and social expectations. Instead they are seem to be stuck with a 1960,s mentality at leadership level..

of course goverment (and opposition) are not exclusive homes to 'boofheads'

havent we witnessed plenty of 'boofheads' elected to run our country?

this guy may well be leading a union but hes not running our country.

and as you have pointed out, the unions are a pretty weak organisation these days.

i agree, we do need good union type organisations to fight for a fair go for the little guy and this idiot has shot another hole in the union movement.

.He is running a union so it is not difficult to see he is just one step away from a seat in parliament.....that is the usual reward for good little union bosses who tow the party line, isn't it?

The unions have been failing their members for years.   We are in an industry which had 100% membership 20 years ago....it is now down to 50-60% and falling.  Who wants to pay $60 a month to be ignored.

You are right that no one is guaranteed a seat in Parliament but it is very easy to find a safe seat and persuade the current occupant or contender to give up their chance of running to put in whoever the party wants to be in Parliament.

It has been going on for as long as I can remember and is not exclusive to the Labor or Liberal party. 

I am not saying anyone is dumb but a lot of people will vote for the party rather than the person which is why the party looks for a very safe seat to get their preferred person into parliament.

on hearing the latest reports where people who were at the event/meeting are saying the guy never made the comments re rosie batty maybe, just maybe, this story has been 'embelished'

i am changing my original thought on him until i get proof he said the stuff claimed.
