I was disappointed that Ms Gillard passed comment on making it easier for the next woman and the next and the next woman. IMO there was no need to bring 'gender' into it.....has nothing to do with gender. So it was because she was a woman she was outed????....:| No the party was / is in dire straights and in need of a change. Ms Gillard did not win her position by the voters....a hung election gave independants the right to cast their vote for her. I doubt Mr Rudd will be able to help much. Too much back stabbing leaves a nasty taste for voters.
Labor has a lot of work ahead if they wish voters to have trust in them as a strong party worthy of leadership of this country.
Why would she or should she not mention being the first female PM. She was and always will be the first female PM in this country.
She has been attacked for being a woman for 3 years because she didn't fit the "acceptable" woman tag.
She did win her position. A hung parliament is a legitimate parliament. We could do with more of them.

wipe your chin...your desperation is very very ugly
just when you got your wish, and could have tried to gain some credibility by discussing your party's * cough 'policies'
you stoop once again to yet another mysoginist comment on Julia Gillards physical appearance..
disgusting creepy behaviour
trust me, from experience I know, you need to have a long hard look in your mirror before attacking how someone else looks !

It's quite bizarre how so many seem to be so relaxed now that "the correct order" of things has been restored. The hysterical attacks on Gillard have suddenly stopped now a man is back in the house. It doesn't seem to matter what they thought of him before, the personal attacks have eased already.

Sorry Twinkles I do feel her gender had a lot to do with things. Especially in the lead up to last night. I have never seen a Prime Minister so hounded and abused by people and the press.
We do not vote for the Prime Minister in Australia. It is done by the party. We vote for our local members. The elected members vote for the PM. This is not America.
What has labor done that is so wrong. We have low unemployment, interest rates and AAA rating. We weathered the GFC and have not gone into recession as other countries have.
Abbott backstabbed Turnbull to become leader of the opposition I believe.
this is all so true.

yes... it's all very odd.

Will Gillard cry like she made Rudd cry??
though she had received rude comments and judgement from some for showing emotion while PM ..(nb also when she didn't and people felt she should).
She did her crying for other people rather than for herself .She is a strong and decent human being

the psych Rudd stuff was going on yesterday wasn't it ?
ABC News24 last night mentioned something which was put together with negative comments which had been said about Kevin in the past and commented that it didn't take long to put together and get out

Yes, and they actually broadcast it on ABC but it's not having the same effect as the attacks on Gillard. There is just not the vicious unexplained gender based hatred for him.
I'm all for giving people second chances and maybe Rudd did learn something from his demise. I do know that the team overall have done a lot of good and I hope they stick around long enough to see it through regardless of leadership.
It won't work on the people with Rudd for Labor sites either because they just see it as justice and now they'll vote Labor again. So they won't care what the Libs say about them, they got their way and they'll fight for Rudd.
